I have been busy knocking up some vehicles for my 15mm forces of Planet Wolfden. Definitve Colony Systems presents the Camel. The Camel is a All Wheel Drive transporter that is a must for the resupply of your colonial settlement on some far flung world on the edge of Human Inhabited Space. ![]() ![]() This is a repainted Matchbox Truck. It is supposed to be some sort of Dinosaur Transporter. A quick paint job and it makes a great supply vehicle. Vehicles play a big part in patrolling the bad lands and Outback regions of Wolfden. The 24th Browncoats like tracked or wheeled vehicles. The Scout is a open top light vehicle which probably started life as some sort of colonist transporter. The Browncoats have added extra armor and a twin machine gun. This vehicle can carry up to ten including the crew. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Scout also carries a 60mm missile launcher for extra punch. The open top of the truck allows me to add figures to it as needed, although the gap is very tight and it takes a wiggle to get the figure in or out. The Scout is a Matchbox Safari Truck and comes with all the groovy equipment as standard. I have many many more vehicles to chop for the table top. More to come... |

Thank You Tinker - it was great fun to build. Wait until you see the Grav Sherman Tank I am working on!! I have been knocking up lots of 15mm terrain. Its surprisingly quick to knock up. Now grab a grew and get comfortable as this is going to be a long post. The DCS Corporation cares about you needs as a colonist. We supply your every need. Need Power?? Then you need the Power Core. A Plasma generator that the links remotely to a power node via satellite removing the need for power lines and other what not. One feature of the Power Core is that a humble plasma rifle or cannon can charge it up or help activate it. It can be a last laugh when some raiders arrive only to find they haven't knocked out your defenses but charged them up! ![]() ![]() ![]() The Power Core is inspired by the Power Cores in the Unreal Tournament 2004 computer game team games. It is built from a selection of bottle tops, pill bottles, sweet boxes and assorted junk from the bits box. It has changed a little from the WIP pics. I had several comments that it looked like a marital aid for perverts from several people (including my wife). So I added a top cap. Then the cat knocked it over breaking the central column. A bit of pinning and glue. Then when I was about to under coat it I dropped it breaking the plastic golf ball off. That's when I reworked the power core (after much swearing and screaming). I like it better like this. Got a Power Core? Then you will need a DCS Power Node. Each Power Core can power up to thirty Power Nodes that can be up to 35 miles away. Ideal for those outlaying farms and research stations. Like the Power Core the Power Node can be recharged using a plasma weapon which allows it to operate as a stand alone power source for limited periods of time when the Power Core is offline. ![]() The Power Core is built from a bead, an old cassette player roller (remember those?) and a Mantic base. Easy and quick. Every colony needs water and many colonies are dry arid worlds. DCS provides your water supply needs with the Moisture Grabber. This works filtering water vapor from the atmosphere and distilling it. ![]() This was made from some electrical terminal covers, a pen top and a couple of rawl plugs. Liquid Storage. ![]() Made from electrical covers (behind the barrels). The Barrels are from a toy set and where far too large for 28mm scale. Some odds & ends from the bits box adorn. ![]() Watch tower ![]() ![]() A 1/76 WW2 watch towerkit. Every outpost needs some sort of communications... ![]() A simple one. Made from a bottle top, pen top and a senor dish from a toy van. Storage Barrels ![]() Made from old dust caps. Storage piles/objectives ![]() ![]() Made from odds & ends found in the bottom of my bits box. Are you still with me? Still awake? Want more? Oh yes there is more. I have saved the best for last (I think). I had a pile of bits left over from other projects so I decided to make a building typical of a Frontier World. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Out of all the bits the windows took the longest to make. As there is several companies that now provide windows for 15mm Sci Fi I will be going that route. I plan an entire table of these buildings. Each will be a little different to the next. I hope to build a urban (dump) nest like the one found in the town of Haven in the Borderlands Computer game. That's all for now folks - thanks for looking!! |

Thanks Nasa. The bases and rooves are made from gift cards. The walls are scraps of foam board about 1" high. The corner, wall details & rivets are card. The door is a base with card as the door. The upper door is card. The windows are matchsticks with corrugated card as shutters. The fans and grill are resin items from Zinge Industires. The hatch is GS putty, lifted from a platformer peice using insta mould. The power box is a small electronics connector. That's about it.

I have been working on some 15mm figures this week but things at home distracted me from finishing them. So you will have to take a peek at the terrain and vehicles I managed to get finished last week. I also discovered some of my older 28mm terrain would work for my 15mm stuff. First up is a Data Spire...need to find something on the Galactic Wide Web? Then you go to the Data Spire. ![]() ![]() The Data Spire is made from some left over Hexagon Platformer Pieces. The Wolfden Enforcers have a hard time dealing with the gangs of the Badlands and Outback. This APC levels things up a little. The Heavy Machine Gun can provide much needed fire support. ![]() ![]() The APC is a cheap Chinese toy repainted. No wargame table is complete without some ruins.... ![]() Made from some old scraps of foamboard and a plastic gift card as a base. And now for the older terrain portion of this blog post.... These where originally made as post apoc or frontier world buildings for 28mm. They where made from scraps of foamboard, cork tile and cardboard. ![]() ![]() The door is a little large for 15mm but too low for 28mm. Maybe I used a Smogger for scale? This was supposed to be a outhouse... ![]() ![]() Edited by mattblackgod, Jul 7 2014, 02:59 PM.

Another gang for Planet Wolfden. Introducing the Meatheads. ![]() The Meatheads are a gang that live in one of the many dead starship hulks that litter the Hullscape region of planet Wolfden. The Meatheads like to bulk up watching body building holovids. Their weapons and primitive armour are made from scraps from the starship hulk they inhabit. This gang like to raid other Hullscape gangs, Corporation bases and the Space Port. One thing they consider a hobby is to go head to head with the Rogues gang when ever they can. The Meatheads keep a bunch of bikes which they like to use in these raids. ![]() ![]() The figures and bikes are by The Scene Miniatures from the Wasteland Warriors range. I left the armament off most of the bikes as I don't like big guns on two wheelers. I put ammo boxes over the holes. As a biker the big side mounted guns offend my eye and sensibilities. The guns are outside the weight triangle which would make it handle akin to a fully loaded shopping trolley with a stuck wheel. Firing the guns would make the bike lose control and probably crash. So they are in the spares pile. These figures would make great Space Orks should someone fancy doing Gorkamorka in 15mm. Hmmm a future project me thinks! |

So you find yourself on Planet Wolfden and you need to hire a getaway driver for the job you and your crew are planning to pull? Then you need to speak to the best...you need to speak to Skoota!![]() Skoota can drive any ground hugging vehicle every made and he can drive it well. Of course he will also do honest work too but charges less. Skoota is rumoured to be a ex stunt driver from some circus and ended up on Wolfden after a argument over his fee. Skoota is my first attempt at a character figure in 15mm. The mini is a Ion Age Malig Mech Pilot. |

I have been working on a Mercenary Heavy Grav Tank for my 15mm stuff. The Herman Heavy Grav Tank an older (outdated) tank which houses a early plasma cannon. Older kit such as this often find itself in service in the outer rim colonies. A good old fashioned machine gun is fitted to the turret and another in the front hull for anti personnel use. This tank started life as a 1/72 Sherman Firelfy Tank kit sent to me by my mate Jay over on Twitter (@souljacker1974). As soon as I seen it I knew what I wanted to do, build a 15mm grav tank from it. ![]() The tracks and wheels where dumped and a new bottom was made from plastic card. The grav units are made from old disposable razor handles. The extra armor plates are plastic rhinestones. The plasma cannon is made from beads which I glued onto the trimmed gun from the kit. The bits box yielded a old rocket launcher from a ancient GW Dark Future Car. I still have my Dark Future set. One day I will give that game a spin again. ![]() ![]() The razor handles are hollow and they needed something to tidy them up. Larger Rhinestones did the job nicely. I have just spotted some filling that needs tiding. Grrrrr I used a couple of clear bases under the grav units to give the tank a bit of a lift. In all this was a fun build and I learnt a lot. I will be making more in the future. |

Every sci fi game needs a not Firefly Freetrader crew for shenanigans and getting into to trouble with the law. I have the very nice Heresy Miniatures figures for 28mm. Naturally I wanted a Free Trader Crew for my 15mm stuff. Ground Zero Games makes a nice Not Firefly Crew & passengers in 15mm. I added a robot from 15mm.co.uk as I feel that every ship needs a robot even if its just to kick or for target practice. The Crew: ![]() L-R: A pilot, 2IC, robot, Engineer (Back), Captain, Dogsbody and Mercenary Muscle. The Passengers: ![]() L-R: Cooky Girl who helps on missions (possible PSIer), The Doctor (Cooky Girl's Brother), A Hostess and a Preacher man. This is two sets and there is two of the Captain, 2IC and Muscle figures in various poses. I have added the guys to my 24th Browncoats Mercenaries. ![]() |

Here is a piece I made a few weeks back for my 15mm SF stuff. It sat to one side and I forgot to record it for my blog. Doh! ![]() This started life a plastic seed pot. Anncoetti's resin doors, grills, windows and fans. Bits of card add details. Half an kinder egg pod makes up the dome. ![]() ![]() The comms dish is a plastic screw cover on a bit of plastic sprue. ![]() Edited by mattblackgod, Aug 31 2014, 08:18 PM.

I have been doing a little scale hopping of late. Playing Gruntz has whetted my appetite for 15mm again. So I have been doing odds and ends of 15mm whilst working on 28mm stuff. Introducing (Captain) Ray Sollestson. ![]() Captain Sollestson operates the Free Trader vessel The Sunburst out of Wolfsden. Whilst he takes mainly trade missions the Captain has also been known to take the odd smuggling or transport job. The figure is a Free Trader by Ion Age. Before Christmas my mate Jay on Twitter (@souljacker1974) sent me a 15mm Sherman Tank (cheers Jay). The wee tank got a face lift for use with the 24th Browncoats faction I am building for Wild Galaxy. ![]() When Earth was destroyed and the Empire collapsed many frontier worlds turned to ancient designs that their limited facilities could copy easily. Many designs from the 20th century which where more than a match for the limited weapons that many colonials owned. However these designs fell short when facing well equipped forces from the Galactic Blocks or Nations. In response these designs where made from better alloys, had additional armor fitted, better power plants, weapons and sensors fitted. This gave the vehicles better survivablity and extra punch although they where still not a match to the vehicles the better funded nations could field. This Sherman III is a example which runs a hydrogen engine that provides much more power than the old 20th century tank's power plant and has a plasma cannon which gives it a fighting chance against better tanks. ![]() The Sherman had its gun removed and a new mantle made from putty. An spare 40K plasma pistol replaced the main gun. A bead was added to the turret top to make the sensors array. The tank body and turret has had rhinestones glued on to serve as extra armor. The original paint got some camouflage to make the tank fit in more with the planetary conditions of Wolfden where the 24th Browncoats are stationed. |

A few new bits and bobs have been added to the 15mm terrain and vehicle collection. The colonist crawler. Many colonies utilize small all terrain vehicles for transporting personnel and equipment. They are often small cramped vehicles. Size is important for transport in a drop ship or shuttle. ![]() The crawler started life as a micro machines hummer toy. I added some wheels from a cheap hotwheels style buggy. ![]() Cargo Pods. Every colony base needs regular supply. A variety of cargo stores are employed from wooded crates to reinforced thermo plastics like the ones below. ![]() The pods are made by Brigade Games and will serve as objectives. I have tried to paint them in various ways. Blue for general cargo, White for medical supplies and Green for ammo. I like painting these and I may have to get some more in the future. Colony Small Hab Building. ![]() This building started life as a coffee jar lid. Some resin doors, windows and vents from Antenociti's workshop where added. Textured paint was applied. Some graffiti was then added. ![]() ![]() |

I have planned for a while to start a 15mm beasty list of the critters found in my Wild Galaxy setting inspired by the lists of critters in my old 40K Rogue Trader rule book. First up.... The Furbear. The Furbear was first discovered in the forests of Mc Nulty III. It is a large six legged bear which appears docile, a bit goofy looking and somewhat cuddly. Many of these bears where soon traded across Human Space bringing in much needed revenue to the world. ![]() The Furbear has a long lifespan and after many years problems began. The beasts are only docile in their prepubescent stage. Once reaching adulthood the Furbears became aggressive usually attacking their owners/keepers. There was culls on many worlds but many Furbears have escaped into the wilds and are a danger to remote colonies on many worlds. ![]() The Furbear is a Furback from 15mm.co.uk Laserburn line. |
