Ahoy there shipmates! (cant believe I said that)2011 is a whole new year so I think that calls for some kind of post apocalyptic themed challenge -and here it is. 'Build a post apocalyptic watercraft' It can be a sea worthy vessel or run aground. In 15 or 28mm scale. Anything from a raft, catermaran, fishing boat, submarine to an oil tanker or aircraft carrier. Perhaps a group of survivors use it as a base? Or perhaps it is the lair of nasty irradiated beasties? Or both -like Rivet city in FO3. What is its current purpose? Is it armed? Does it have a crew? Any more ideas, comments, suggestions, pictures -Post 'em! I'm going to start to plan mine now. . . |

Me too. I have a plastic toy pirate ship I was going to use as a PA ship someplace...I think I might cheat! I was thinking pirates, fishermen or traders.

I think the challange should be ammended to include any scale. Mostly because we have a new 20mm member, but no reason to exclude anyone. BTW, I have an 18 inch plastic ship I plan to convert for PA pirates, but I'm not productive enough to get involved in a challenge. (we really need a cat emoticon for when someone is being a p****) |

Agreed. Any scale. Shall we set a deadline or what? I think if you don't fancy making a PA boat come up with a PA sea monster instead |

So do we post our WIP pics here or start a WIP topic?I would guess here, yes? I'd think 6 months is enough time but i personaly have alot of time on my hands right now and could do it in less time. Brian |

Would a hover craft be doable? I have in my head an image of a standard hover craft uparmoured with scrap and barrels with make shift turrets etc.. A more boxy and square version of this with one or two of the fins replaced with corrugated metal as bodges

@ kfc v lot: A hovercraft would be great. @ mattblackgod: Making our own WIP would be a good idea, thanks @ Inkwell : It's not the size of the boat but the motion in the ocean I reckon i'm going to do a run aground container ship of some sort, which has been occupied by a wasteland group of some description; they may not be even be human. Does anyone have any thoughts on scale? I mean 28mm would be approx 6ft in real terms and some of these container/ tanker ships are over 600ft long which would be nearly 3m! Yikes!! |
