A package arrived today ;)

So a while ago Ground Zero Games produced 25mm resin vehicles to fit with their 25mm figure range.
GZG then stopped production of these due to sales being low and the costs increasing. The moulds were knackered and they were having issues with the resin.Well for a while it appeared we'd never gain see their ever so nice resin vehicles. Unless you fancied ordering from Eureka in Australia.

But now the Ground Zero Games vehicles are available again! They are being produced under liscence by Deamonscape(who also do resin scenery). Admittedly their range is just small selection at the moment as they wrok theirway through the moulds restoring them. Their current range includes the small Hover Jeep, a hover Combat Car aswell as the hulking Leviathan but to name a few.

In front of me I have the Snow Cat ATV (GZG41) a quad tracked, all terrain vehicle. When the box arrived after fishing in the packing peanuts I found three carefully bubble wrapped packages including one in a zip lock bag. In these I found the components to build the snowcat.

The casting is split into 8 pieces (7 resin 1 white metal) which are the track units the two halves of the main body and a turret, the white metal piece is the barrel. The resin ranges in colour from a yellowy brown to an off white it has that pungent resin smell. The casting quality for the most part is excellent no flash and everything looks as it should, though my only slight complaint is that one of my track units is on the small side by a milimetre or two.

The tracks are around 5cm long, 2.5cm high and 2cm wide. They are a simple one piece casting with a flat undetailed back and all other sides being fully detailed. It'd face shows the wheels of the track and the assoiated gubbins.

You then have the body and lower assembly once again they are both one pie castings. There is the upper and the lower, the upper being the deatiled body with all the hatches and windows etc. The lower is long angles block with a little bit of deatil for the front and rear and a small two samall supports in the middle for the upper. the surfaces mate together well and should hold glue well. All you do to assembe them is put one on top of the other.

Finally you have the turret it's barrel. My turret is a slightly different colour of resin. It has a flat surface where an indentation needs be made to hold the barrel. The barrel is a white metal affair and detalied enough.

Test fitting the unit reveals that it should got together quite well with some form of glue and a small amoount of pinning (each of the track units). The snowcat it self is fairly large and quite a substancial weight. it is around 11cm long and 3m wide with the tracks unattached with the tracks attached it's around 7cm.

After test assembling with blu tack I have compared it with a selection of miniatures of varying sizes (all 28mm). In my opinion it fits the chunkier 28mm miniatutres well. it doesn't look too bad compared to the smaller miniatures either ;).

My only other cristism is that there are no instructions which isn't a major issue as it isn't an overly comples kit. But it is always handy to have a set on hard. You will need some modelling experience to put it together as the track units will require pinning to the body and the turret will need to be pinned or magnetised aswell as the turret drilling to accept the barrell of the gun.

Deamonscapes service was excellent and kept me well informed. This was done through their ebay store. I placed my order lat on a thursday evening, I recieved confirmation on Friday morning then another message informing me it had been posted. I recieved it on monday so a quick and painless turn around.

The Snow Cat (GZG41) retail for £10 with £2 (at the time of writing) which considering it's weight an quality isn't half bad.The model fit's well and for the size and weight of the things it is good value for money. Would I buy it again you bet there may be some small faults but personally they are minor.

I hope that Deamonscape keep producing these fine vehicles and carry on bring out releases I would love to the trucks they did again and the T.I.T.

That's just excellent! I could see many uses for just this vehicle alone.

Cool! Thanks for the review. I want a snow cat or three for my frozen wastes. This will be going on my future shopping list. Or maybe I should try to make my own from the bits box or toys?? :D

I plan to attempt to assemble this at the weekend or the beginning of next week, anyway I am trying to decide how to paint this up. I will probably use it as armoured support for the EM4 NBC troops which I did in orange and grey. I'll have to put some into this. May have to attempt a line drawing though I am about as artistic as a snail so we'll see.
