Digging around in my bits closet I came across this great political sign one of my neighbors had stuck in my yard.I love it when people give me stuff! Well I was working on scratch building some machines so I pull it out, hmmm -I Beams!!!this is a coragated plastic sign, you see them every wherePosted ImagePosted Image and I've got enough scale i beams to build half of New York.

You can only hope for a tight district race and the followers of these politicians putting up more signs! Ya might even be able to use the material for buildings too!

My missus will kill me sooner or later! I have started hoarding cardboard due to certain advice here, next up is to trolley the £-shops and charity shops (there must be at least 10 in town) for suitable vehicles... Ahhh, junk.

Get that woman on your side! Take her with you, buy her lunch. Tell her how much more you love her now than the day you married... If she smells a rat, tell her it's most likely from Tinker's Shop :)

Rather than charity shops wait till the weathers better and start trawling carboots. You find a much wider variety of junk thats useful for gaming.

Oh, you don't know my missus, I can tell that! She can't fathom (love that expression :(|smuggrin: ) the hobby and refers to my minis as "dolls" ( :(|shock: ).

Although she "allows" me to doodle with the hobby as long as it doesn't interfere with family or other chores, which is gracious enough of her.

Excellent idea. And the bonus is that I can get some stuff for our little one as well.

 Chicks can't pass up sales...they can't. Dem I beams be sweet though,I've been checking out toys on ebay and those damn sets that have i beams always go high because they're "vintage" which is code for your going to have to pay out the ass cause its old.So i've been looking for something cheap.Just lucky I picked it up ,if somebody had'nt been pushy about thier political views and stuck it in my yard I would have never snagged it.The plastic isnt very thick ,certainlly sufficent for dressing up terrain and small construction though :forge:

Posted Image Hidey hoe wastelanders, ol' inky here with another tip of the week.Yes I have gone bonkers but there is a method to my maddness!Do you like washes with inks?Well I do but man I paint a lot and those little bottles are both expensive and tiny so.....I make my own.some of you might be privy to this but for those of you who dont here's a nifty little trick.Acyrlic floor finisher . I make my inks up johhny on the spot.make up a wash with water and your paint/pigment and add a drop or two of the floor sealer . 10-1 is a good ratio to start with. The acyrlic in the floor finish very closely mimics the properties of a premium "ink" wash for pennys.MMM need a royal blue ink wash ,make one! I would recommend that you experiment a bit with it before you pull out your masterpiece. It really pulls the pigment down into the detail and keeps it there .It takes a little longer to dry and it does leave a shine but I triple dull coat my figs anyways. The above bottle I've had for several years and I've even done the floors a couple times with it..I've also heard of folks making dip out of it as well.Give it a try and you might add it to your tool box of tricks

Thanks Uncle Inky!
I've been meaning to try that out for a while.I use GW inks on my minis but they are to expensive for terrain.I have this jar of black and brown paint mixed with water for the big stuff, but theres no flow-improver type stuff in it.I just slop it on let dry for five minutes and dab the high spots with a paper towel.Works OK.Also it stinks like hell after a week.

A slight drop of dish soap will also act to help flow, but it can also screw up your paints too if insufficient time has been given for proper drying.
