Fuel Dump terrain

I've been playing Diceheads Wastelands rules and one of the sectors is "Fuel Dump".
I had to go on a looting mission on that sector and had no terrain to fit the scenario.
My terrain has been mainly very sterile, plain stuff for sci-fi. This is my first attempt at
true post apoc terrain. It ain't as good as what I see here on the forum, but I'm proud
of it. At least it is burned out and torn up!

Looks very playable to me.

Remember it's all for setting the mood. Some players require more details to set their mood. For other's terrain is a very important part of their gaming. Only you decide...

Happy looting! Once you make one thing though you'll be hooked on making more stuff.

:coffee: It's playable and representing a ruined fuel dump. I could play a game on this piece of terrain. You're right to be proud.
Remember you're gaming not building a museum display piece..

The quality of terrain you see displayed in this forum is high indeed, but don't forget it's usually from experienced builders, some are doing this for over 30 years. Experience comes from making mistakes. Most of us don't display their failed experiments...

The dark brown cloth stands out on the base color of your table. To "blend in" a piece of terrain on the the table give the base of your ruins the same color as the base color of your table, in this case the light brown color of the cloth you use could be used. If that color is coming from a spray can or another piece of cloth doesn't matter, your eyes will blend the two as they are the same color.

Good gaming.

As an afterthought: Looking at your pictures I see a new way to create a "planked" wooden floor. :good:

Thanks for posting.

WOW! Thanks guys. Hollander, thank you for the advice too. Pauix, the barrels are from
a Tamiya model kit and the crate is from a Heroclix map set. I didn't make those. Wish I could though. You guys are the best! Thanks to Dicehead for his ruleset. Don't forget everyone, his new rulebook is getting closer to being finished!

Mr. Hollander has a point!

I'd say you're off to a damned good start: I see plenty of great shapes to use, and it's more than playable as-is.

Really, the best way to learn is by doing, especially trying new things.
Considering that this is P.A. terrain we're talking about, worst case scenario is that you 'ruined' some cardboard and popsicle sticks, and you can probably salvage that for another project!

If you want to do the fancier stuff, then my best advice is trying to emulate the 'top' guys. If it weren't for Ross' stuff, I wouldn't have half the pieces I do.
Ask questions, try new things, and -don't- stop doing them.

Great start. :bravo:

I'll echo the comments of the other posts. I've played some great games using tins and assorted floor-plans. While eye catching terrain is something to aspire to, it can be a very time consuming task and a royal pain to store.

I've made a couple of very detailed terrain pieces in the past only to find them to cluttered and fragile to play on.

Remember Sir, we ain't railway modellers, we is Waste landers ( huzzah ).

I think your dump is very playable and has the right feel to it. I would be more than happy to game with this set.

As for the detail and other stuff, they are just eye candy. I am a old model maker and as such I love to lavish time adding details. However other folks detest terrain making. So just do what makes you happy, this is after all the wastelands where the rules of man died with civilisation! Do it your way and enjoy it!

If you do go as crazy as some of us on here then dont be afraid to ask questions - we are glad to help.
