Well brother let me tell ya. Its great for making whatever color wash you need.I keep a syringe of pure future and mix a drop or two with a dab of color then dilute with water right on the palate. I use a drop or two for a nickel to quarter sized puddle on the palate. Sorry I'm not a precise measure kinda fella. You will know after a bit of playing around. It maintains a strong color still on a white background. Need a stronger color, add more paint, need a glaze ,add more water. It pulls the pigment into the recesses and keeps it there. It will pool some times but you can go back and lift out the excess with a dry brush, like a sponge. It takes longer to dry so you can add a secondary color while its still wet to get some unusual effects. All that for 3-5 bucks for a big ass bottle.I chucked all my expensive inks and washes and haven't looked back.Great for glazing, great for washes tastes like crap though .I like to experiment try diffrent stuff, some works some dosn't but to improve beyond certain painting plateaus you must be willing to push the envelope.I think the internet is the painters best friend, find stuff you admire and find out how it was done.I think it changed my painting style a little because I didn't have to maintain 20 different washes, could make up whatever I needed on the spot. |

Thanks Inky. See,i'm a lazy painter and almost never mix colors for washes or anything else.I have been messing around with Army Painters washes a bit (not the ones for dipping) and have had mixed results.I tried to use the Future method and sort of stopped before i really got started.I'm going to give it another go next time i paint though. BTW-I admire YOUR painting style! Its so smooth and the colors just pop!I wanna paint like Inky when i grow up. Brian |

Yup, yup, yup. I second Brian's sentiment: "I want to paint like Inky when I grow up." You get such vibrant colours and it's so... just lovely to look at your work Just out of interest, how much time do you spend on average on a mini? Do you do umpteen layers or is this magic thingimibob "Future" helping a lot?Speaking of it, I agree with Dr Falkenhayn, picture/ more info about this stuff please. And keep 'em coming .Edit: and Brian, for being a lazy painter, you sure get some really nice results! I can still remember those muties from Mongoose ? (Judge Dredd-line). I had a hard time finding my bottle of it when i picked some up 4-5 years or so ago. As an aside I use it a lot for decals. lay down a layer of future let it dry for ~15 minutes then lay on the decal and hit it with microsol let it dry another 15 minutes and put another thin layer of future on top. BULLETPROOF waterslide transfers once its completely dry. Seems like the new bottle looks like this floor finish with "future" shine Edited by Ironblood, Jun 2 2012, 01:29 AM.

Well lets see,Ironblood nailed the product .Basically its a clear liquid acrylic designed to flow into recesses in your flooring for shiny goodness. Its a useful tool bit you have to have lots of tricks in the bag.I really like wet blending right on the fig or palette for gradual shading and high lighting. I put a dollop of the color ranges on palette and some water to keep'em thinned down then base color, then add a smidgen of lighter color till I'm using pure lighter color straight. I'll make a painting guide! I dont use any of the fabulous washes available like Badb Black because basically you are corrupting your base color by adding black to it.I make my own color specific color wash as needed, dark blue for blue etc. This really helps the colors pop. I've never timed myself but on average 2 hours,Some much less some a little more.I'm not trying to produce masterpieces though and I would imagine it would take a little longer. My bottle reads Pledge now with future shine.I believe it came out of the special effects /movie industry, adds just that right glaze for fresh flesh:) I will do a tutorial for those interested this week. |
