I'd have thought that most peoples idea of PA is after the fall/end of civilization, by what ever means, as modern man perceives it. However, looking at some of the diverse work and ideas put forward here I suspect we embrace a far wider range of sub-genres into our PA settings than most folks would consider "proper" P/A. So, to be honest, I've no idea. Perhaps keeping them separate would be "tidier" but I believe that the fall of a fictional/fantasy world is no less P/A than the traditional Nuclear Holocaust. plague or zombie settings.
