I recently saw a really neat way to do ruins by a guy named bill on youtube. When I get some free time, I'm going to be trying his method. part one: |

More rust, and grime applied to the piles of gadgets. The rubble is well done. |

Great rubble bits. All the metal bits and machines need is a little weathering and dust. |

Its extruded polystyrine sheathing type of insulation. So far I've seen it in blue, pink, green, yellow/tan, and a lavenderish pink. most home improvement or building supply stores should have something of the sort. Certain climates seem to have access to various thickness and density. Here in central Florida for example, all I can get my hands on is 1/2" blue type. It cuts quite easily with a knife but dulls the blades almost as fast as foamboard/foamcore. |

dogmrian, you may have to talk to some local model railroaders to find out if they have a source. Seeing your in NZ (the NetherZone) sources may be difficult. |

In their various project instructions, Hirst Arts often uses a home-made wash that gives a nice "dirty" look. New Pipes Old Pipe Rock Wash |

You could try any acrylic floor polish, of which there are many: Pronto, Sidolux, Klir etc. |
