If Monopoly and Risk ever had a baby together and was nurtured a bit by Gary Gygax, you get Settlers of Catan. Absolutely one of THEE best boardgames I have ever (and just recently, yesterday in fact) played. Just one little problem: it costs 50 FRIGGIN BUCKS! So there I was, I had a dilema. I would have to shell out $50 dollars for the starting game, not to mention another fifty for the seafarers expansion, and another $14 something for the smaller 5-6 player expansion packs. Then I remembered all the spare matting board and flock I had...... heheheheheeeeeh you can see where this is going can't you? So all the boring backstory aside, here's what's up. My local playing buddies at my hobby store are completely stoked about my new Catan 3D Continent building project and the game, but we want to add a warring aspect to it as well, but we don't know how. That's where you all come in! We want some way to build up small personal armies to conquer other regions for ourselves. Maybe something along the lines of: -at the end of the regular Catan playing phase (someone reaches 10 victory points), all resource gathering stops. Each player rolls 1D6 for settlements, 2D6 for Cities. Those D6 amounts represent the number of soldiers you have, all starting in that region. You then commence battling Risk style until one has conquered the map. Wadaya think guys and gals? Pics will be shown as my progress continues. Ideas for special tiles would also be greatly apreciated! (Had plans for Natural Disasters such as tornadoes, volcanoes, hurricanes on the coasts, etc. Maybe adding in a Warlord piece. Would act as a Thief piece, but you must lose 3 resource and Warlord's choice of a settlement, Cities chosen being reduced to settlement status and settlements being destroyed!) |

another idea is that you can build a army with lets say 2 sheep, a wood and a stone. with this you place it on the tile like you would place the thief. the army stops the thief from entering that tile hex, also you can take over a village or a town if you have enough attack. your attack would be how many armies you have surrounding your target. a village has 0 defense while a city has 1. also cities and villages can be reinforced by friendly armies. you can also move your armies and attack enemy armies. same rules as above for attacking, but if the attacker wins the loosing army is killed and an adjacent army moves into fill the hex. if the defender wins the attacker looses an army. in the invasion situation if the attacker wins then you take over the target, if the defender wins then the attacker looses an army. defender always wins ties. Players can support other player armies, For the right cost, heh heh. |
