Slowly but surely I'm putting together a "Terminator" force. This is meant to be the turret of a HK Tank. Its the missile system from a 40K Tau Sky Ray which I plan to mount on a Space Marines Land Raider. The twin las cannon sponsons from the Land Raider will be attached under the wing tips. The problem was that they hung down too far and wouldn't clear the track guards. So.... I carved the center out of a 40mm lipped base, flipped it upside-down, and glued it to the bottom of the turret. Worked like a dream! Now the issue will be the removal and replacement of the top of the Land Raider. The friggin' thing is so expensive I'm hesitant to chop it up for fear of ruining it.

I really don't like the gap between the "wings". I've got a couple Tau Stealth Suit torsos and I'm considering trying to modify one to fit in there. The missile racks under the wings are also kind of annoying. I'll probably cover those up with plasti-card and thereby make the wings look a tad thicker/stronger. Here's a couple shots of the turrent set on the hull.   As you can see, I need to figure out a way of removing/replacing the whole center section of the top as the front and back are at different heights and due to the detailing on them there really isn't a flat space to mount the turret on. In these (blurry) pics it has a 25mm base stuck under it to shim it up.... and a copy of Reaper's Frumitty behind it, propping it up. Edited by Sykoholic, Nov 13 2010, 05:00 AM.

I like where this going. Why not use the body of a 1:35 or 1:48 scale chieftain tank? It has ths same rounded front as the "tau turret" bringing it together "style"wise. But I definitaly like the way you're doing this.. Edited by Hollander, Dec 30 2010, 08:30 PM.

A bit of an update due to a rather interesting discovery. The "wings" from a Sky Ray turret fit onto the shoulders of a Space Marines Dreadnaught. The gap between the two isn't as big as it looks in the pic. Still... I'm considering simply removing the Dreadnaught's shoulder joint and attaching the wing directly to the side of the body. |

very nice, i admire people who can convert tanks in 28mm and make them look good! i wouldn't know where to start with a kit as big as that! got any tips syko?

Uh...not really. This is the first time I've ever done it so I'm just sort of winging it. This thing coming together as well as it has is pretty much just pure dumb luck.
