I've finished painting a platoon of Emergency Administration troops for my Stalingrad 2072 setting. The minis are 15mm Rebel Minis Spetznaz. This is my first attempt at a camo paint-job, by the way. Towards the end of WWIII, elements of the 33rd Separate Motor Rifle Regiment, equipped with somewhat outdated gear, were left to garrison Volgograd as better-equipped units were sent to the South to fight in the front lines. When the bombs fell, many of these soldiers found refuge in a large military bunker near the Volgograd International Airport. In the chaos of the 2050's, these surviving Russian military forces tried to re-establish order, but faced stiff resistance by the emerging survivor faction, as well as attrition by transgenic animals and a high desertion rate among the military's ranks. Nevertheless, their commanding officer, General Dimitrov, set up the Emergency Administration of the Volgograd Oblast. This Emergency Administration claims that it represent the legitimate Russian Federation government in the area. However, the Russian Federation is dead for thirty-five years, and, in practice, the Emergency administration failed to enforce its rule over the many warring factions of the ruined city. It controls the old Airport, though, and uses it as its base, holding into its three remaining Mi-8 helicopters, which are seldom used due to the extreme shortage of the jet-quality fuel they require. Today, in the 2070's, the Emergency Administration functions more or less on a feudal basis, demanding a cut of the crops from its area's farmers in exchange for protection from bandits, transgenics and the other factions. Emergency Administration soldiers are usually equipped with AN-94 Abakan assault rifles, RPK-74M LMGs, RPG-29 shoulder-mounted missile launchers, BTR-90 wheeled APCs, and seven T-80 tanks. The normal forces are not equipped with NBC protection outside of their APCs, but a special SPETZNAZ team is rumored to exist with full anti-radiation gear. So here is an Emergency Administration platoon (I'll buy the BTRs later when I'll have more funs available): ![]() By golan2072 at 2010-10-29 |

Good stuff, mate. I really like the background you came up with. What other factions are you planning for Stalingrad 2072? |

Thank you all for your kind words ![]() The factions I have in mind are: Emergency Administration (military - this thread) White Legion (fascist neo-czarists - look HERE: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Post_Apoc_Wargames/topic/3815166/1/) Commune (leftist coalition based in the old Volgograd State University) Chornaya Svoboda/Black Freedom (anarchist gang/splinter-group who broke from the Commune for ideological reasons) Bandits (criminals, raiders and thugs - look HERE: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Post_Apoc_Wargames/topic/3792460/1/) Rail Nomads (nomads/traders with AN ARMOURED TRAIN!) Free Village of Peschanka (autonomous farming community) Mole People (or Goblins) (residents of the underground Metrotram stations) Independents (people who don't belong to any major faction; in many cases petty traders/scavs) And, of course, there are transgenic animals and rogue pre-WWIII robots to worry about... ![]() Other potential factions I might add include a cult of sorts (I love the 15mm.co.uk cultist figures!), a high-tech Soviet restorationalist enclave (using the minis from Kremlin Miniatures - http://www.kremlinminiatures.co.uk/cdc.htm) and heavily biomodded humans. Cool background and minis. Check out the Metro2033 book for ideas for factions in Moscow or in your Russian wastelands. Basically there is several independent factions (depending on where they live), Commies, Nazis, Bandits, Criminal organisations (one Muslim), tribals (cannibals), Polis (a seat of learning, culture and military might), the Dark ones (intelligent mutants), Christian fundamentalists, Satanists, Stalkers/Rangers (militaryesq Stalkers), Emerald city (a university faction still teaching & researching), revolutionaries/anarchists and Hansa (allied group of trader factions). They are only the ones that I can remember. But all have different looks and attitudes. Great for inspiration. The Computer game will give some inspiration too but most of the factions in the book are missing.

Mattblackgod - thank you for your kind words. Regarding Metro2033, would it run on my aging computer (Intel Dual-Core 1.6GHB each, 1GB RAM,GeForce 7100, WinXP SP2)? Otherwise I'll buy it from a bargain-bin or from E-bay once I'll buy a new machine (in a year or so). |

I doubt the Pc game would work on that spec. To be honest I ended up buying a Xbox360 to play it as it wouldnt work on my spec despite being a higher spec than the nominal system requirement. If you can grab the book. There is also a Metro 2034 book but its only available in Russian or German at present. I did hear rumours that a Metro 2034 game is coming too with open play (metro 2033 is linear and there is little options to explore) so it more like Stalker or Fallout.

So I'll wait until I'll get a better computer; by then, hopefully I can buy the game for a cheaper price. |

I think part of the problem I had is that I am running XP. From what I have read online there is some issues with it. So go to windows 7. |
