I've finished painting ten Khurasan Miniatures 15mm Giant Ants. They could also probably stand in for all sorts of bugs, from giant spiders to the alien insects, and thus are very useful. I also tested a new basing technique on them, gluing sand (from my backyard) to the bases after the minis were based, then applying primer to the base (as well to the mini), then painting the base and then sealing it with clear varnish. I also found out how to make a great concrete color: mix 3 units of white, 1 unit of black and 1 unit of yellow. So here they are: ![]() By golan2072 at 2010-09-18 |

Nice, but they look wet. Try a matte sealer, perhaps? |

They usually look a lot less wet than in the photo, but for my next bunch of minis I'll try a matte varnish. |

While I'm not a 15mm man myself, those are pretty cool and I could easily see them as a swarm of beasties for 28mm. |

DAWGIE can see where these would be useful as not too big (as in ARACHNIDS, etc) mutant bugs. . . wish some one made some mutant roaches in 15-mm or 28-mm scale. . . need some for my outhouse project. DAWGIE |

I could do with seeing that project Dawgie! Nice bugs Golan. The basing looks okay but a bit shiney as others have mentioned. Perhaps a wash or two might dull them down? |

I'll try to spray them with a matte sealer today, and look what will happen. Even if the worst happens they aren't THAT expensive, to say the least (a big advantage of 15mm). |

Much better. You can see the detail on the bases batter too. |
