Right, im in a bit of a pickle... I can't decide how to waste-ify my 2 new busses...

I have a few images for inspiration, but im not getting anything from them (which sucks).

Ok, the first buss is an american yellow school bus (it even has the swing arm stop sign) that I nabbed for £2 off of evilbay.
The second bus is a full length coach (double rear axle kind) that I was fortunate enough to get for a measly £0.25 from evilbay.

Any images/ideas/random spiel is more then welcome, I just need something to get the creative juices flowing.

I assume you considered the Fallout: Tactics ex-schoolbus over in the vehicle inspiration thread?

Other than conversions in that vein, I think a bus would lend itself perfectly to putting something on the roof. Various hatches for the fighters to shoot out come to mind, maybe a bigger fixed weapon, or additional cargo space, built like a terrace - perhaps again for the fighters to ride on and shoot from or with a bigger gun mounted in the middle - basically a driving fortress!

Perhaps I should have explained my quandry a little better.

The busses are going to be for my namad faction (which is oddly enough now the second largest faction in my wastelands), currently they have only 3 cars (2 of which are 2 seaters, the 3rd is a 3 seater) so they lack suitable transportation for their numbers which combines with the lack of a base means I needed large transport vehicles... hence the busses.

So they need to be suitable for carrying supplies/passengers while being semi-defendable (not assault transports however).

That BoS bus is interesting, i'll add that to my inspiration folder (yes I have a folder full of images used for nothing but inspiration).

I'll stock with my 'cargo-area on the roof' idea, then. Also maybe have some tanks in the back of the bus to transport the guzzoline like in Mad Max 2? You know you want to.... ;)

Lol, I was also looking at the school bus from RE extinction...

I do have a small problem with the bus however... its a smaller scale than was advertised, its a tad on the tiny side. But I expect I will be able to do something with it.

considering the VAST differences in size of various vehicles (just compare an old mini cooper with the Hummer!) that should not be a problem. The only thing which really maters is the size of the seats, so if you put armor plating on the windows, noone will know. Must be one of those newer, eco-friendly busses! Amazing how those Japanese are able to build them this small, isnit? :P

I think i'll do that on the coach... but not the school bus... I think i'll just add a large roofrack and fill it with storage crap and tents and the like...

Not sure how much armour plating to put on the bus, definately going to put a grill or mesh on the front windows, may just plate over the rest completly...

Right, heres what i've done to the school bus so far... all thats left is to rig some sort of ram to the front... I'm still considering putting a basket on the top for storage...

Storage room on the top would certainly be cool. that and some space for Fighters - someone has to keep the degenerates at bay!

Well thats what the interceptors and gun cars are for... the busses are purely transports... im only thinking of putting the ram on this bus because its got enough bulk and enginge power to make a dent in most fortifications and its the more expendable of the 2 busses....

The larger bus will have a couple of fire points on the roof for defensive purposes...

I suppose with the luggage basket empty a couple of fighters could ride up there, but thats not going to be its intended purpose, and there will be no weaponry mounted aside from the ram.

Definitely make it possible to have fighters up there - you don't want any 'Damn! I shouldn't have glued that luggage on!'-moments ;)

Lol... well i've actually just finished making the basket... i'll snap a pic of it in a moment.

Its just a strip of plasticard base with 4 bent paperclips for the framework and some paper glued around for the canvas sides and a small length of chain for the access point at the rear.

All thats left now is the ram.

*edit*

Right, got more done tonight that I thought I would...

Here is the complete bus, ram included (although the ram is a tad too big... so much so that the driver can't see... but then with that ram he really doesn't need to!)

Let me know what you think..

And I still need ideas for the coach.

That ram is MASSIVE! Maybe cut vision slits into it? As for the basket: as you said you want the sides being canvas, I suggest using Kleenex (or similar tissues) soaked in glue - gives wonderful wrinkles.

The flag on this model was made using that technique (unfortunately the white color doesn't show the effect really well, but I don't have a better pic):

Its ok, paper soaked in pva and paint works quite well, besides the canvas im thinking off is actually fairly rigid stuff... its the think stuff used to make those boat covers... realy strong stuff.

The basket is actually big enough to hold 3 minis up there, but its a bit of a squeeze, so I think 2 will be enough.

I was considering cutting vision slits, but i'll probally be better off drilling them rather than cutting them, if II cut I risk damaging the ram.

Ok first bus finished and painted...

I didn't do all that much on the paint job for this one, just some very rough weathering and a bit of coarse rust on the plating...

Let me know what you think, and any ideas for the coach...

I like it! I bit small, as you said, but it will work as one of those small-ish shuttle buses. The only suggestion I have is maybe surround it with barbed wire like those fortified shuttle buses in Dawn of the Dead.

Mabey, I do have some fine railroad wire I was going to turn into barbed wire, but im not sure if i'll do it on this bus, mabey the larger one.

Speaking of the larger one, typically enough, im waiting for it to arrive, the one day im out, it arrives... its now sat at the dispatch office... i've got to get up at stupid o'clock tomorrow to go pick it up...

I can't believe I missed this :(

I like 'im Mal, but to be honest I'd like to see more road wear, you know, mud around the wheel arches etc. But nonetheless, that looks great!
