Right now i've got my vault terrain... I need my vault minis... For the most part the security forces in my vault are being made up from eM4 nbc and regular troopers, i'll also be doing a couple of factions from outside the vault... For now though, heres my trial colour scheme... (yes its a vault-tec ripoff... sue me... or actually please don't): ![]() ![]() my only real problem with this scheme is the blue coveralls are not actually as light as they appear in those pictures... they came out quite dark... I may have to mix up my own shade of blue. |

Shame about the blue, as the pics look great. It may be a commonly used color scheme, but that's only because it works so well. I say, unless you have a flash of brilliance and think of something better, no harm in going with a classic. Of course I have no imagination and all my ideas are |

heh 'borrowed' ideas... "sorry officer i didn't steal the idea... i only borrowed it, im going to give it back when im done!" Well the nbc security team (all 5 members) will all have the same dark blue... it doesn't look bad, just dark, but then that just makes the yellow stand out more. When I do the rest of the vault workers I may switch to a lighter blue... or mix my own... |

Nice paint job. I have no problems with borrowed ideas, quite a few of mine are nicked. It is often said that there is no such thing as a original idea. As for the colour scheme its a classic and works well. Blue and yellow contrast well like red and green. When I get to my Liberty City faction they are going to have dark blue jackets, light blue pants with a yellow stripe/detailing in a similar fashion to old union cavalry uniforms. It works well. |

Well i've just finished all 5 nbc troopers.... I've got 3 more guys im going to use for the vault forces, but all 3 are in heavy armour with full face respirators... unfortunately all 3 also have cloakes/backpacks so you won't actually see any of the vault tec uniform... im contemplating a different uniform for these guys... Anyone got any ideas? The armour covers chest and pelvis with coveralls over legs and arms, full webbing with grenades, pouches, etc.... |

Not too sure. Do you want to stick with the blue and yellow? You could do the inside of the cloaks yellow. If not go for a Urban Camo or blue (night) camo scheme. |

Are you painting on a white or black undercoat? That will effect the shade. Try a spot of white in your blue to lighten it up a bit. What is the base tone/colour called? Try the next shade up. One way I like to paint blues is to undercoat white. Darken the blue slightly with a bit of black. Thin it a bit and paint the mini. Then paint the blue over the top. Then lighten the blue with a drop of white and do the highlights. If it looks too disjointed then thin down the base colour and wash the blue area. Apologies if I am teaching you to suck eggs here!

Lol, I use grey undercoat... I used to use only black or white, but discovered(twards the end of my gw stint) that grey is much more adaptable as a base coat. anyway i've decided on a colour scheme, much the same as the vault guards as far as similar parts of their uniform go... boots and gloves/belt/pouches, etc all black, coveralls blue... but im going the armour grey... I figured part of the reason the blue on the others looks soo dark is its got a heave black wash and the second main colour on the mini is black... so it sets a very dark tone. i'll throw some pics up as soon as I finish the test mini. |

Ok I managed to nab a pair of these akira-style bikes from evilbay... they are only 25mm but the riders are close enough to 28mm that its not a problem... I decided to do these also for the vault, so colour scheme is the blue with yellow stripes... let me know what you think. ![]()

Its from Void.... a Vasa GSX 900 Viper Wing. Urban Mammoth makes Viper Wings as well but they're used by the Triads faction and look a bit different. |
