Where I am in my life became horrifyingly apparent after last night's Nercomunda game. All the years of abuse on my old frame means that bending over to table-level to eye things ain't as easy as once 'twas. I've come to a point of my life where I must - MUST!, I say - build the ultimate in miniature wargaming geezer geekery...

The tabletop periscope - http://www.zeitcom.com/majgen/25persc.html

Wish me luck, lads! :goggleson:

Ooh, that would be nice. I'm thinking of building a dice boot/tower for my games, as I'm tired of disappearing dice rolls, or folks grabbing dice from behind obstacles without my verification of the pip count and telling me what they rolled... With friends, I can care less what they roll, they're not going to cheat, well, not to often anyway.

Why bother with strip wargaming? Just play naked and be done with it already!

The idea of a periscope is nice, though. Then again, this is exactly the kind of gimmick I'd forget to bring with me on game night anyway ...

Play naked...You just hit on the one time I managed to put a boss in his place. My gaming buddy and I worked for the same company and our boss was certain that wargaming was some weird code for homosexual activities. He said, "I can just picture you two standing around naked playing with these little men!" I narrowed my eyes and cocked my head and said, "You're imagining us naked and we're the ones who are gay?"

He immediately shut up and walked away.

Periscopes for wargaming. Interesting idea. I've seen them used in the past, but never for long. It's usually more hassle than its worth.

Oh, that was some years ago and that boss left the company before we did. That job convinced me that I did not want to be in retail any longer. When I left, I got into computers and never looked back. My buddy got a state job and he's job secure now. I'm job secure because I know my profession and I'm one of the best in my company.

Sometimes at the dollar store you can find little pocket sized toy periscopes. I always mean to pick one or two up when I see them, but always forget.

Hello all. If you are looking for Tabletop Periscopes, I actually started making these out of diecut and direct printed cardboard with plastic mirrors. Check out my sight if interested.
