Alrighty - got something new to show! As I'm still waiting for my mad scientist miniature to finally be delivered, I made these guys. I figured he could need assistants here and there - the lower work around the lab clearly would be below him! ![]() "Not to worry - it will only be a little sting...the excruciating pain will set in a little later..." The Guy on the left is a Charles de Gaulle miniature with a head swap, the guy on the right is a Rogue Trader era Commissar (Some day a mob of angry GW-enthusiasts is gonna lynch me for sawing up all those rare miniatures ) with a WHFB head and a syringe made of wire.Almost forgot, these lads: What kind of PA setting would it be without the Doomsday Cult? Gentlemen, I present you the Lutheran Adventist Militia! ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Carrakon, Oct 1 2017, 05:06 PM.

I'd have gone for a colour other than white for the pointy bedsheet hoods, but I am absolutely loving what you have done with the cultists. Your unique conversions continue to amaze me. |

Unfortunately, John didn't have us Wargamers in mind when writing Revelation - there needs to be white clothing (white will be fashionable among the righteous when things go south). |

In Revelations 7,9 John talks about a bunch of righteous dudes appearing before the throne of god with palm branches in their hands (note the shoulder pad insignia). As for nuns and priests - it might unsettle the people when the priests run around in costumes inspired by revelations ;). Also many don't know that much about the bible - especially the protestants. How a short-haired woman can become a priest of the christian branch with the motto 'Sola Scriptura' without feeling incredibly ridiculous will forever be beyond my understanding

Not being religious, I'll freely admit that my knowledge of all things biblical is hazy. I guess the Ku Klux Klan have forever ruined the cone shaped white hood as a religious fashion item. Besides, how would one wash a white hood in the post apocalyptic wastelands to keep it whiter than white?

The problem with any religious movement is always going to be the extremists, just look at the 911 bombers, they claim to be muslim, yet they just broke the cardinal rules meaning they are in fact non muslim... but you can't reason with a fanatic. Belief is not always a tool for good, it can easily be twisted into evil deeds. Just look at the bible... the 13th commandment (found in Exodus, note there are actually more then ten) says quite clearly DO NOT KILL, not room for interpretation, yet look how many people have been killed by christians, catholics, protestants, etc etc since the time of Jesus... do you know anyone who can even count that high? People may claim to be serving 'God' in one form or another, but you can't serve and disobey at the same time. Unfortunately Fanatics never see it like this, they believe absolutly that they are an exception, they believe that the evils they do is for the greater good... News flash, there is no Greater Good, its just a tool used to control the masses. Most major religions have a list of rules that run contrary to human nature, the reason being is people will always follow human nature and will enevitabily break these rules, then ofcourse they feel guilty... what do guilty religious people do? They pay a visit to their preist and ask for guidiance and absoloution, which puts them in a prime position to be controlled (nicer to say influienced, but its just control). Ohh and by the way, im a very religious person, but my religion says I can do pretty much what ever I like providing its moral, no right and wrong, no good and evil, only honourable and dishonourable. Right... now i've gone wayyyyy off topic with a religious triade... you really shouldn't let me rant like this

How they keep them white? Trust me, you don't want to know... ![]() Thanks for mentioning the KKK - doesn't Christianity play a role in their belief as well? I went with the cone shaped hood because it screams 'whacky cultist!'. As the concept behind this faction is basically a mix of militia movement, survivalists and radical christians (Adventists are those guys who think the end is near and have their churches built like bunkers), I needed to give them something to make the connection to Christianity. A bunch of righteous guys wearing white in revelations should do the trick. The belief of those guys will of course be a little different from the bible: They believe in a Ragnarok-ish end battle against the devil. Of course now with the apocalypse actually having happened, this battle is near! @Mal: I'll gladly discuss any religious topic, but the miniatures section of this forum seems not to be the best place for it ![]() Anyone else find it interesting that you can model all kinds of degenerates without any problem, yet radical nut-job Christians start this debate?

Heh, I wasn't debating... I was on a rant and yeah your right, not the right place for it :p On the plus side, when you model nut-job christians you also get the fun of shooting them... again and again and again and again and again and again.... |

Well in the first campaign against the mutants, they will fall in the camp of the good guys. Of course 'good guys' is used loosely here - 'not as batshit insane' would be more fitting! I do have a campaign idea in my head featuring them as the baddies, though: In the bible it says somewhere that god will give the kings ridiculously mighty swords and they will use them to make a massive train-wreck out of the earth. Obviously those 'Swords' are nukes. Now our little fundamentalists might have heard rumors that an undetonated nuke is lying around somewhere...

Y'ALL beat me to it CARRAKON! some where in the lead filled footlocker iin TENNESSEE i have a NECRO REDEMPTIONIST gang, a WZ box of low level cultists, and a NECRO gang that wears, hoods and partial face masks (cannot remember what they are called now) that i got years ago with apparently similiar twisted thoughts in my mind . . . i think i was going to call them THE CHOSEN ONES; religious whackos, crazed survivalists, anti USG , waiting for the chariots of GOD, to take them to a better place, after they make the post apocalype world a better place for THE CHOSEN ONES. . . . been looking at assorted hooded and robed cultist leads to add to them as the great unwashed cannon fodder . . . Seeing as its after the apocalypse - I'm sure some would say that they already let 'bat-shit insane' folks near the nukes, so why not let the religous wackos have a go? lol This certainly has the makings of a great PA campaign, and if I haven't said so already, nice work on the figures! |

For those interested in religious twists and how it can be twisted in a post apoc (and ours too) world check out the Jon Shannow novels. The real reason catholic priests and nuns were black is it was seen back in the day as a "sacred protective colour". Later madness then picked out good as white and evil as black. |

Yeah, the KKK does include a lot of Christian/Protestant elements into their beliefs. Did you ever play Manhunt 2 on the PS2? It wasn't as good as part 1, but one of the better enemy gangs were the Bloodhounds. A bunch of stereotypical right wing redneck bounty hunters with vague hints of white supremacy and a little bible thumping. Some of them wore the white pointy KKK style hoods with army gear, reminding me a lot of your cultists. http://www.projectmanhunt.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=5&pos=55 http://www.projectmanhunt.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=5&pos=60 |
