I thought I'd start sharing with you some of the work I have been doing over some time now... ...I hope you like it, and I'll give little details on the minis, and anything else that may be relevant in knowing.

I must admit, though, if you have ever seen me on YouTube, you'll know how much I hate painting. I see painting like a chore, and something I really just hate doing, but I dealt with my share of jerks who wouldn't play against me because I never painted my miniatures. I always dealt with guys who said things like, "Have you no care for your minis?", or "What kind of gamer doesn't paint his models, man?" so I would respond with, "Who the f*ck cares what I do with them!? They're mine!" and this got me negative attention. Well, whatever, I guess. I just started painting my minis so as to get a few games in, and I think I am the world's worst painter (I am so not joking, haha).

I do, however, think I have gotten a bit better than I used to be, thanks to inspiration from fellow painters, friends and the fiance. :)

Alright, let's begin! Oh, if you see mold lines, haha, I never rid them of the model; why, that would be like taking away their souls!

First, is my very first Malifaux crew, the Resurrectionists' Nicodem, Mortimer and 3 Zombie Punks...

I worked on the Zombie with the mohawk first, and totally threw on too much varnish, haha. Oh well. :P

Next, are a few miniatures from Gangs of Mega City One (Judge Dredd Urban Combat). These are currently being used in a Wastelands campaign with my fiance and two other friends.

Yes, I gave him a little Hitler 'stache, haha. His name's Toxik, as in the old Thrash band.

Posted Image

Posted Image
This is Ram-Rod, which I think came out real nicely. His eyeballs look good, which is a first for me! :P

Posted Image
This is Nagash, which is named after the singer of Black Metal band, Covenant. OLD stuff, mind you.

Posted Image
This is Scuz, named after the dude with the mohawk in the 80's flick, Return of the Living Dead. Classic. ;)

Here is a VOR Growler, going to be used in Wastelands and a custom rules system for Car Wars. He's a WIP.

Just a size comparison.

Another size comparison, and it looks cool, haha.

Car Wars!

A Car Wars custom Matchbox car. It used to be yellow, haha.

Just a look at my painting "skills". I try, haha. These are Orcs, for Reaper's Warlord, used in several custom rules systems.

Two WIP's.

That's it for now! I should be posting some more Post Apocalypse goodness soon! Hopefully, I can get my hands on a few Aberrant miniatures (Rezolution) as they're perfect for Wastelands. I'm also working on several Grunts for the old VOR game, also to be used in Wastelands.

Thanks for looking, and any criticism is greatly appreciated, because after all, it helps. :)

Cool, very nice painting style (of course im going to say that, its similar to my own :P ).

My only critism is the varnish, its too glossy, it gives some of your minis a more comic effect that I think you were going for.

One trick is to use a matt varnish over your gloss, that way you get the appearance of matt with the protection of gloss... and you know when you need to revarnish because your minis start to get shiny as the matt wears off.

Don't be hard on yourself!
And they don't look bad at all, maybe slightly glossy but that may b e just me :)
My painting isn't that good... Mainly because it always seems like a chore tbh..
Then again once I get started it isn't too bad...
Oh and are they the Gangs of Mega City One plastics?

Nice work. I especially like your car. I'd agree that gloss varnish does detract from the overall look of your figures but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the paint jobs. Thanks for sharing.

By the way, kfc, those are indeed plastic GoMC1 figures.

Nice painting, and I'm agreeing with the rest about the gloss - mind you, it might well look a lot better 'in the flesh'

Nice work. I love the 2000AD minis. There is some nice details on them. Great work on the eyes. I am with the other about the varnish. I look forward to seeing the VOR growler when finished.

The car is ace. Thats a pretty cool battle rig. Is it a 20mm/Hotwheels/Matchbox size?

Not bad at all!The gloss and the amount of blood on the zombies is a bit much. But who am i to critisize,i am working on some PA pizza delivery Figures, cars and the paint job on the figures turned out kinda crappy.Painting is a chore for me too,i would rather be making terrain or playing a game.I do like the 2000AD figures, the parts mix well with GW stuff so there is tons of conversion possibilitys there. But over all good work.

Thanks, guys. I must admit that I almost "kinda" know the varnish is a bit much, but whatever, I guess, haha. I was using "Matt Varnish" though, so that's a bit confusing. :P

I seriously appreciate the comments, and I actually have no varnish on the Mega City One minis, and like someone replied, yes, they're the plastic minis. I have another gang being worked on right now, too.

What is this, man!? The Gloss Varnish Crusade!? Haha, just kidding, but thanks again. :P

Lol, its the main critism we painters face when we use varnish and ask for critism... it doesn;t help that almost every picture (thats not been paint shopped, that means you GW) makes the varnish look a lot more glossy than it actually is.

Also most commercial 'matt' varnishes are actually just slightly watered gloss varnishes so it can be difficult to find a suitable 'matt' varnish sometimes.

Don't take it negatively, your work looks really good, we only comment on the varnish because in the images (mabey not in the lead) it takes a little something away from your hard work.

One of many rerasons why I like to take photos of most of my minis before I varnish them, with some exceptions, like those that get done in stages and varnished piecemeal to protect the bits already finished.

I hate painting as well. I gave up a long time ago, nice to see you stuck with it. I'd say they are better than I could do, but that may not be much of a compliment.

No way am I taking anything negatively! :P

The reason I asked for criticism was because it helps, although some douchers prefer not hearing the truth. I am grateful any of you guys even bothered looking at my work and letting me know what you thought; grateful I tell 'ya!

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it even with the varnish, haha. I will totally do that, though: photos of the minis before the varnish bathes their very metal.

Again, don't think I am taking anything negatively. Heck, I've heard guys tell me that my work looks like crap painted on a base; I'm like, "Cool, but so does your face." Haha, it really doesn't bother me, but any critique really does help, and only makes someone try harder, and get better over time.

Thanks a lot guys. :)

"Who the f*ck cares what I do with them!? They're mine!"

Pure Wasteland mentality... that's how we got here in the first place ya know  I do very little painting, for that matter very little all together.

I personally am very keen on the Mega City One figure paintjobs, nice work on 'em.

I also follow that mentality. I happen to be lucky in that I find painting minis relaxing. At the end of the day its about respect. If the guy doesnt like painting so what? I dont like gardening. We all have our likes and dislikes, abilities and no ability, and respecting them is what makes the world a batter place.

Of course it is what makes the Wastelands a better place. If you disrespect someone in civilisation you can get away with it. Out here you better be ready for some scars. :D

Pass another slice of the Shelia ham Dawgie. Anyone got any mustard? Hmmm better than Rat on a stick! :D

For someone who doesn't like painting, this is pretty good. I like your Malifaux gang, especuially the pimpin' purple coat on the leader. hey, doesn't Malifaux have a bunch of zombie hookers... That's who he needs as his crew. :D

I'm not a great painter myself, but I just happen to like doing it. Like everyone else says, we all have different likes and dislikes, I haven't really got the patience (or the space since I'm in a small flat) for making terrain. I'm quite happy to have my armies fight over two big books and a stack of CD's, though I do buy the odd cheap and easy terrain piece.

Anyone who won't play 'cause you've not got a painted army is not worth your time.

Lol, the only time i've had to play with fully painted armies was in an offical league tournament (which I won btw... but I had to use a borrowed army as mine wasn't painted :P )...

Any other time, if someone started kicking up a fuss over unpainted minis they would be asked, quite politely, to take a look around the hall... the odds are that 90% of the armies in use are not fuly painted.
If they continued to make a fuss, then they will be advised that they can continue to come to the group, but they will not have another game until they grow the f*** up.
