FOUND this on TMP this morning (i missed the first discussion) and thought it might be useful to someone here. goto: http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=86428 http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=186572 i admit, this is a clever idea for service tunnels for asteroid or planetary installations, or massive space hulk passageways, etc. DAWGIE |

Interesting idea, but personally i'd want to base the pipes so they don't rock when someone knocks the table. |

My issue would be after all the cutting I'd have to do a mass amount of sanding to prevent my slicing my fingers everytime I reached to move a figure. Nice idea none-the-less |

It's pvc. You won't cut your fingers. And pvc is very easy to sand.

After having played with a good amount of PVC, I've cut myself a number of times on unfinished edges. It could be that I'm just clumsy though. I'd recommend a nice big woodworking file (not a needle file) for cleaning the edges. PVC will clog sandpaper and sanding blocks really fast. You'll just need to clean the file with a wire brush every so often. Edited by consectari, Dec 16 2009, 07:38 PM.

I would think a bigger diameter pipe would allow for a wider grid and you could use the larger base figs if needed. Plus this would give room for side features like piping or wire runs, etc. I may try this soon and will post pics accordingly. |
