The thud of axes biting deep into heartwood echoed across the Icedelve ranges. The mountains themselves seemed to quake in anger at the defilement of the ancient forests by ancient allies. The woods were older than this age, perhaps even as old as the Icedelve. Before long, the howl of wolves began to echo amongst the axe strikes, seemingly competing. The Dwarven leader's head snapped up as the harsh howling reached his ears. "Quick my kin," He bellowed, "the fires must be lit before they are upon us." Seemingly in response to his words, two tall plinths of stone rose from the ground, their tops crowned with blazing heartwood. In the harsh light of the heartwood the dwarven companies ranked up, their backs to the warmth of the beacons. And there they waited... And thusly starts a new project. Arrived today from my favourite company in the world! I received two forces and will keep track of them here. There will be accompanying terrain which will be dropped in here from time to time also. You'll have to wait for the pictures for more detail, but I can promise you that this will be an epic endeavor. Hmm, a cookie to the person who guesses exactly what I'm doing too ![]() Stand by for pics. |

No Elves... Yet ![]() Its a much older menace coming to face the children of stone. Rules will be of my own make. I gave Hordes of the Things a shot and while it was a good ruleset it didn't give me what I wanted. I like a base of 10 men to represent 10 men, not 150. Just a slight nitpick of my own. Working on my own fantasy world too. Just for fun ![]() In the past hour I've painted and based my first 30 Dwarves. Managed to get flock all over myself in the process... I haven't had to base anything green for a very long time lol And seems as the camera is refusing to upload I'll just have to let slip that they're 6mm Dwarves from Eureka... Although they are Irregular sculpts. Great minis! |

Steering a long way from GW now Tinker ![]() Well, except for Epic ![]() Painting 6mm is really quite easy, especially if you've got nicely sculpted minis. You're painting the unit to look good as a unit. My method so far is to undercoat with a mid brown. pick out some clothing and shields in blue and green. Paint any armour in light grey. Pick out the skin. Lightly drybrush the brown parts with a lighter shade. Then very lightly drybrush the whole stand with a light cream to bring out some detail. Easy

Not just your pet peeve man, that's what has turned me off Might and Reason. I was looking through the 6mm stuff from Eureka just then...... stuff's nice and cheap...... very tempted........ Centaurs, Unicorns, Wood Elves, Eagles, Dragons, Treants, all sound like a viable force for a good generic fantasy battle to me...... |

The 18mm Eureka are nice, but its just big enough to mean there are a lot of details to paint while being small enough to make it hard. The 10mm Eureka range is nice, but 10mm is a weird scale for fantasy. Other than Warmaster there isn't much out there. The Irregular 6mm are great though. I'm really chuffed with the dwarves. Now if I could only upload these feckin' photos.... Grrr

I like to think the title is Bully Sergeant ![]() So Ben..... how much did your dwarves set you back and what did you get? With each entry, ie "Dwarf Warriors with axes", how many sculpts do you get? How many models do you get for the 75c or are they 75c each? |

I grabbed one of the army packs... $25.64 for 36 strips. Each strip has 5 dwarves on it. When buying individually .75c gets you a strip with 5 blokes on it. 10 strips of axemen, 10 strips of crossbowmen, 10 strips of spearmen, 6 command strips and a bloke on a pony. So far I'm organising companies into 6 strips over 3 small flames of war bases. This looks good and means everything gets used. The casting is awesome as always... I didn't have anything to clean off of the crossbowmen or the axemen. The spearmen needed a bit of work, but not much. |
