North Korean Revenants AKA "Dear Father's Wayward Sons"

After the catastrophe and as bad as things may be now, something happened that could have made the world a whole lot worse. For a brief period of time, North Korea found itself to be the most powerful State on Earth, and it's dictator, who referred to himself as "Dear Father" planned to invade the weak Capitalist Western world.

Using a secret and forbidden mix of science and necromancy, hordes of zombie troopers were created. Mindless, fearless, expendable and in many cases reuseable, they were to be the first wave of the invasion, a shock tactic against the already weakened West paving the way for Dear Father's living armies to sweep triumphantly through and conquer.

Fortunately, this never happened. Shortly after the operation was begun, the long oppressed masses had finally had enough and seeing what little they had in resources being redirected to zombies, turned on Dear Father. A brutal struggle destroyed the State, the threat of Dear Father's invasion, and the secrets to creating the Revenants.

In the decades since, it's been widely rumoured that a few small squads of the Revenants still lurk hidden deep in the ruins, mindlessly repeating State propaganda and shooting anything that stumbles into their path. Waiting for orders that will never arrive, ready to fight on behalf of a State that has long ceased to exist.

A group of Warzone 1st ed Undead Legionnaires. Zombies with guns, top that 40K! The fluff was (again) inspired by Fallout 3, the Chinese Remnants you occassionally run into, but trading China for North Korea seemed more fitting for today's world. "Dear Father" is one of the titles Kim Jong Il had given himself in the past, and works as an overblown title for any dictator real or fictional.

Nice stuff and great fluff again.

I have ran into the Ghoul Chinese forces a few times in FO3. Still they are little match for a gatling laser in excellent condition! :D

I have some of those zombie troopers to paint. Must get my finger out. :D I plan to put some tech bits on them so they look like controlled constructs. A kind of dead body controlled by AI.

I ran into the Chinese Ghouls quite early in the game, and since I was at low level they were quite tough and gatling lasers weren't an option. Haven't found them in any other locations aside from the food plant yet.

Alright, update time again.

NLC Demolition Team- A specialist squad in the New Londinium Corporation's army who's main purpose is the "removal" of wasteland buildings that happen to be in the way of development space. With their expertise in explosives and close quarters fighting among the ruins, they achieve this no matter whether or notthese buildings are being used.

A squad of dynamite packin' Warzone Blitzers, with guns that look a bit like a cross between assault rifle and shotgun. I've decided that the leader's bigger, rather odd looking gun is some kind of experimantal plasma blaster.

NLC War Droid- In the confined and heavily built up ruins of Nu London, vehicles are not always the best option tactically. As a result, the NLC has found a perfect alternative, robots. Providing a balance between durability and manouverability, and able to be fit with a wide range of weapon options for any situation, War Droids have become a popular choice of support for NLC squads operating in the ruined city.

This came from one of the Weird War ranges that have cropped up recently, I forget which. I've converted it with a new head from an old Starship Troopers robot (cause I think it's supposed to be a guy in power armour in it's proper game) and a GW grenade launcher replacing a rather wimpy looking gun. Shown with two Warzone troopers for size comparison.

Of course when your enemies start arriving with heavily armoured troopers, big guns and killer robots, it's time to bring out your own big guns. The Tunnel Runners scavenger gang now have a bazooka team to counter this threat, and it's also been useful in blasting through walls and rubble during their scavenging expeditions.

The bazooka guy's another Copplestone scavenger, and I gave him a GW Guardsman character I had lying around as a loader. even by my standards, this picture ain't great.

Chiaki and Kou- Samurai Cowgirls

These sexy sword swingin' sisters bring the way of Bushido to the ruined streets of Nu London. Originally arriving in the City as bodyguards to a diplomat from the hi tech but oppressive Neo Nippon, they killed their employer in a dispute over payment before escaping into the wasteland city where they act as guns/swords for hire.

These two come from the Wyrd malifaux range, and there's a third one still on my painting table. Japanese cowgirls, what's not to love

Second pic shows Chiaki in a dispute with a familiar looking adventurer from the Copplestone range for size comparison. Malifaux are tall, but unless you're sticking purely to smaller stuff like EM4/Hasslefree they're prefectly useable with other ranges.

Commander Sterling with NLC Heavy Infantry.

Commander James Sterling is a high ranking NLC military officer, government minister and self proclaimed knight of the realm. He is rarely seen beyond the walled confines of the City, and on the few occassions he does venture out into Nu London, he's equipped with his customised heavy infantry armour and taking personal charge over a well armed heavy infantry squad.

I've posted the heavy infantry here before, but not without their new leader who is also from the Warzone range. He was 1st ed, and I think he was a special character, which is why he gets more blingin' armour than the troopers.

Advanced Revnants- Even rarer than the standard North Korean Revenants thankfully. They act as squad leaders and while still undead, their bodies and minds are better preserved, and they can actually think and take initiative, though are still undyingly loyal to the long dead State of North Korea.

More Warzone Undead Legionnaires. these two 2nd ed models are far less deyaced that the 1st ed, and don't really look zombie to me. But they're cool so I imagine them as wights or some others semi intelligent ressurected monster seen in udead armies.

This has been a really bad day for our famous female adventurer. First she gets grief from a samurai cowgirl, now a pair of undead monstrosities...

Pretty cool minis and background. The WZ minis are cool. I do like the Malfuix range. To my mind they are only slightly taller and fit in with my mish mash of figures. After all we are not all the same height and build. Who is to say that seven footer wont be a regular sight in the wastelands?

Blinged up armour must make that officer a bullet magnet. :D

LW,

Sounds like you're getting a lot of your gaming elements in place for conflict, and the units are looking good too! Ya just need a little ground covering on the bases to tie things together.

Yeah, one day I really should do something to jazz the bases up a bit. I've got an unopened and never used bag of flock in my paint box, just need to get over my bare minimum approach when it comes to bases.

Techs Maniacs- A high tech kill team of unknown origin, they pack some of the fanciest and most expensive hardware and gizmos you're likely to see in the wastes. They're certainly not locals, and they believe that only the technologically advanced deserve to survive and carry on into the future.

A GW Space Marine scout, a Warzone Bauhaus heavy and an Infinity trooper/agent of some sort (not familiar with Infinity background). Not quite sure what made me paint them in yellow and blue steel aside from the fact that I very rarely do anything yellow.

Does anyone else find yellow a pain in the butt to paint. Is this just with GW colours or all over?

Nice. I find GW yellows suck. I have had good results with the Vallejo yellows. I always paint it over white.

Nice work - and I find yellows are a right pain to paint. These days I use something like desert yelllow (sort of a sand/khaki colour) as a base coat, so that it has atleast a smei-decent foundation to start from!

Thanks for the tips on yellows. Yeah, all the GW shades so far (I've tried three different ones) are really watery and need a LOT of coats, meaning I usually end up abandoning the yellow and start over with a different colour. Will have to try the Vallejo paints.

Iyanden Darksun from the GW Foundation paints range is great - it's got great coverage, perfect for a basecoat. I'm a big fan of all the Foundation paints :) The tech guys are looking great, they look nice and tied together considering the variation amongst the minis!

Street Doc- Wasteland Paramedic.

Another non combatant civvie, and carrying as much medical and first aid equipment as humanly possible, Street Doc's a very welcome sight for any wounded Nu Londoner.

Repainted and converted EM4 prepaint. Very crappy back shot shows GW medic baggage in addition to the first aid kit he already has, he really is loaded up with gear now. And hopefully in the first pic you can see that I've tried to turn his gun into one of those medical injection thingies (sorry, I have no idea what they're called).
