Into the Deep pt5.

Onwards and Upwards.

On discovery that the human genetic “master race” lived near to their Brood Nest the Vermen decided it was too risky to allow them to grow stronger. They posed a very real threat to every mutant and GLEF (Genetically Engineered Life Form – creations from before the fall).

During Aryanreiche’s attempts to clear the tunnels beneath the bunker they also ran into a nomadic band of Smoggers. The Smoggers and Vermen have allied to take the bunker city down.

During a power failure (it is still not clear if the Vermen have allies or sympathisers inside the bunker) the Vermen lead a pack of Ghouls into the bunker entrance. As the automated guns where out of action and the door was stuck open the Ghouls swarmed into the lower levels.

Aryanreiche has attempted to clear the lower levels twice and lost. They managed to hold the Ghouls at bay for a while. During the last attempt to seal the bunker the SS squads ran into some unexpected trouble. Waiting for them in the dark was a mob of Smoggers. The SS took heavy casualties and the Smoggers took the entrance to the upper levels. Their allies the Vermen arrived to continue the push and a little surprised at the Smogger success.

The Vermen push into the upper levels knowing that the Bunker cannot be allowed to recapture the lower level entrance. If they can keep it open then they can flood the bunker with all kinds of mutants.

Victory conditions:
AR – to beat the mutants back into the lower levels.
Vermen – to take control of the upper levels.

The escaped SS “wet behind the ears” officer realised he was to die. So he grabbed the next recruit from the training school and rounded up some Bunker residents in the form of a “Wasteland Re-education” gang (good old fashioned Neo Nazi Skin Heads to everyone else).

The Vermen move swiftly through the tunnels.

Some split off to pull the old pincer movement.

The Skins move forward to take on the advancing threat in the corridors. The SS Officer and his green squaddie rush off to cover the other tunnel exit.

The Vermen can smell and hear the approaching SS.

Meanwhile the main body of Vermen split up further. They realise that they can turn a pincer movement into something more lethal.

The first group of Vermen arrive at the central part of the level and spot the Skins. The Vermen can smell the hatred these guys have for them.

Bursts of automatic fire from several SMG’s and a flame thrower kills two Vermen.

Spotting the SS officer a Verman fires off a burst from an old assault rifle killing the Officer. I guess he doesn’t have too worry too much what High Command will do when they discover he ran.

A Verman ducked behind the cover of a container. Swiftly he pops out and fires off a couple of shot gun blasts. The Skinhead with the flamethrower drops wounded.

The remaining SS trooper steps up and coolly lays fire down on the advancing mutants killing the front one.

The Skins rush forwards. The Verman behind the container ends up locked in close combat with an angry skin head.

The SS Trooper replaces a clip and coolly continues to fire down the corridor. Another Verman dies from his accurate bursts. Not bad for a rookie straight from the academy.

The Skin head kills the Verman with a head butt that stuns it. He then cuts its throat. Meanwhile the other skins lay down fire on the other mutant killing it. The gang rush off to catch the other mutants marauding through the corridors.

The last Verman rushes forwards and blast the SS trooper at close range with a shotgun. As the trooper dies he wonders if he will be remembered as a hero of the Reich.

The Vermen leap out catching the Skins by surprise roaring their battle cry “GIVEUSTHECHEEEEESE!”

A rattle of SMG and Shotgun fire two Skin heads die.

Gaining the initiative the Vermen push on an ancient SMG cutting down another Skin Head. A long range shot gun blast hits the Skin head who has stopped to scalp the dead Verman at his feet.

Seeing he was alone the last Skin head flees into the tunnels….the mutant filled tunnels. He did not live long.

Conclusion:
Victory for the Mutants! The Vermen are holding the upper levels and they are drawing all sorts of mutant kind into the bunker to terrorise the nice “pure” folks who live there.

Next time tune in for the Get the Kaiser to Safety battle featuring the Kaiser’s concubines (Kaiser's body guards and sex toys), the Deaths Head company (Kaiser's personal guard) and famous Aryanrieche Sniper Sergeant Konig.

Its time for the Kaiser to cut his losses and find some followers who can shoot better or ones that can learn to duck. :M-4: :shoot: :2gun:

Yeah - right. They need their luck to change and roll some killer shots on the mutant hordes.

The bunker and its populace are being attack from all sides. Smoggers, Vermen, Ghouls and some other under tunnel nasties. The bunker has fallen (and I was planning for my Neo Sov bunker to come and do this :P ).

Most of the surviving population are fleeing the bunker city. Many are headed up to the castle in the mountains (which is a day on foot). Others are taking their chances in the Wastelands and enjoying freedom at last (Traitors to the Kaiser who will be rounded up once AR has control of the area! :unsure: ). At least one squad of SS have deserted....it is suspected that these are the mutant sympathisers (their officer was found murdered). These will form another Arayanrieche styled army of freedom fighters from my remaining plastic Bauhaus minis. Maybe in grey or blue uniforms with the spikes taken off the helmets. No idea of what to call them yet.

The next game will be on a open table as it will be in court yard of the bunker city. I plan a APC with a squad (from the Castle) and the Kaisers various guards and other personalities. The mission will be to get the Kaiser to the APC and off the board. All the rest will be left to fend for themselves. I may keep running it until as many survivors have gotten to the exit point.

Of course I plan a few entry points onto the table. One for Smoggers, another for Vermen and the others for random under tunnel nasties come to snack on the living. I suspect the Ghouls will be making life difficult for anything with a pulse. :D

OMG!


the bunker has fallen to mutant hordes! mutant scum are running about everywhere, bunker civvies, militia, and regulars are in full JTYA mode, the HIGH COMMAND is in full CYA mode, and THE TERRIBLE TRIO have bailed out looking for a safer place to play!


and now the last stand at the bunker is about to happen, with the troops providing CYA for the KAISER & ETC, to make their getaway!

Cheers. I suspect that as the Kaiser has a bolt hole then he will run. If the Castle did not exist then it would have been a fight to the death.

I am wondering what other twists I could add to this tale. After all its going to smart losing the bunker to mutants. The Vermen will loot everything useful and the Smoggers will loot everything else. :D

I did plan a last stand at the Riechstag but there isn't enough man power to pull that off. That is one problem with shutting your city off and not allowing wastelanders in. Lack of man power. The AR bunker city is more like a small town in numbers. Besides this campagin there has been quite a few losses of man power in the field too. Remember our mate MAD? :D

Cheers. Running about with out body armour isnt advised. :D I guess their arrogance of the Mutant Scum lead to their downfall.The problem with thinking you are better than everyone else is you underestimate the foe. I think AR will seriously need to rethink their strategies. Use cover and don't think that because its a mutant you can easily take it down.

Tsk, Tsk... More dead AR! If it weren't for their political and racial views there might have been a tear in the corner of my eye. I think it's time for the remainder of the bunker to skedaddle, to the very last Skinhead. Let those mutants have the place and the Nuke that Kaiser has left to blow the complex!

True, but I remember reading in some fluff in a 2000ad novel about a group of elitist mutants who hate normal folks. The more mutated you where the higher the status. Norms got treated like dogs.

I think some follow up games will be planned such as raid the bunker to drive the mutants out (by then the Smoggers and Vermen will have gone). Or deploy new secret weapons to take the bunker back. On failing that getting stuff together to make a nuke....although the castle is only 20 or so miles away. It may not be nice to have all that fallout.

Maybe I will work my elitist mutants in (call the six fingered hand).

what are the "normal" wastelanders going to be doing during these hard times for the KAISER?


seems like a bit of payback is a bitch, and never forget to apply the boot when the enemy is down but not out?


ghouls, vermen, smoggers, scavengers, nomads, wandering loonies, critters, other vaulters, all could be drawn to the collapse of the AR and potential goodies left down below . . .

I love how your game world changes with the campaign. Awesome batrep as well, especially with the Skaven turned Vermen. The six fingered hand logo sounds intriguing. Might have to make a four fingered one for my mutant faction...would you mind this poorly disguised looting?

Well that's Pt6 played out....with over 60 photos. The batrep will be a beast. I took 2 and half hours to play. But I could half it if I wasn't buzzing about taking photos. Some sweet action too. But I wont tell! I like to keep you all in sus....pension! :D

Now...it might be a day or so before I can post it up. Can you wait? Well CAN YOU? :D
