A little while ago I was chatting to a mate at Bootcamp, we were discussing skirmish style games when he mentioned a relatively new and inventive wild west themed one, Malifaux. Now he delved into the background of said game and, either alcohol fuel imagination or a deep rooted love of the wild west and horror movies, it got me thinking....... El Paso, New Years eve celebration. Gunslingers and card sharks flocked to El Paso for big card games and even bigger celebrations. Partying particularly hard, American Indian Charles Locoweed run afoul of a particularly brutal outfit. Drunkenly crashing through their card game they took offense and dragged Charles outside. There they whipped him to death amid the cheers and heckles of rabid onlookers. Charles, an outcast Indian due to his mother, an outcast female Shaman who practiced the darker aspects of nature, called upon every curse his mother taught him as his life fled from him. Charles' life blood, the emotion in the air, the correct alignment of moon and stars, and the curse he spat took effect the moment he died. He cursed the town, its inhabitants, and the surrounding landscape to spend a week in hell for every taste of the lash he received! The veil between the shadow realm and the mortal realm collapsed. Demons appeared in the crowd and begun tearing into the mortals. Shadowy forms flew about, possessing men and women and corrupting their physical forms into ungodly shapes bent for carnage. Now in an unholy fight for survival, gunslingers have forgotten past grievances and banded together to defend themselves from demonic hosts. So, what I'm trying to do is this, paint up some gunslingers and human "save me! save me" objectives, make a metric ton (20 to 30 or so) of demons, make some wild west Mexican terrain covered in the sort of gore you'd only see in the lamest 'D' grade horror movie. For the last three nights I've been hitting the humans, so far I've finished; three gunslingers: ![]() ![]() And two objectives: ![]() ![]() All the wild west models I'll use are Foundry 25mm. I've got two more objectives and five more gunslingers (including the much coveted sawn off double barrel shotgun!!) with two more models that I'm not sure what role they'll play (you'll see them when I get around to painting them). The plan is to hit the paint at night and hit the terrain on the weekend. I'm thinking as far as terrain the following ideas: Out door cantina, turned over tables, chunks of rendered flesh etc Barn, pens of blood stained straw, chunks of rendered flesh etc Ruined church, bell tower, chunks of rendered flesh etc Some other bits and pieces, all with silly amounts of chunks of rendered flesh....... see the pattern? Anyway, this is the stage I'm up to, no idea on the next update, but it should have colour. Grab your six shooters boys, this towns gone to Hell! |

Sounds a cool idea Ross. I look forward to seeing more of it and the rendered chunks of flesh. Speaking of other ideas I had one for a Steampunk/VSF version of Necromunda a couple of weeks back. |

Nice Paint jobs Ross, very top notch work! The fluff itself sounds a bit like a variation of "High Plains Drifter". Danny, not to hijack Ross' thread but I'd be interested to see a different take on Necromunda maybe you can start another thread or just PM me... |

very nice work. what style do you think the demons are going to be in? more "classical" horns & hooves, or a more "indescribable cthulonic horror"? |

Dan, you know the drill, start a thread!! You can never have too many projects on the go at once ![]() 3vilX, the demons style will be..... whatever I end up making them look like By what I mean, I'm going to fully sculpt them, so I'm thinking lots of teeth, other than that it'll depend on how well I can sculpt That's the only plans I have for them so far, though I have in mind decapitated horses with many toothed maws on their neck stumps...

I'll have to call my adopted father and have him retell me the joke regarding a decapitated horse he heard while on a bus ride to the Indian Casino... then I post it here for your amusement. |

Oh wow... Now this seems like a cool idea. In addition to sculpting the demons, I've seen the GW Ghouls put to really good use as demonic hordes recently. Could be useful for bulking out your hordes? |

There's a couple of options available as far as purchasing goes, the GW ghouls are an option. At Bootcamp this year a fellow had converted some of them, he turned their back spikes into flames with putty and the neck, as it ends in a ball joint for the head, turned that into a single big eye. But the main plan is to do as much myself as I can until my confidence runs out then, if I have too, switch to buying. Three more gunslingers done tonight: ![]() ![]() For the first time since my second D&D character (I was 14, give me a break ) I've decided I need to make (re- paint) myself into a game. Can you guess which one I am.....

I'm guessing you're the geezer with ginger hair and the winchester! I like what you did with the shotgun guy - that was pretty much how I imagined him when I reworked the shotgun (shortened the barrels even more than before) took off his sheriffs star and changed the trousers into boots |
