Watched the Mutant Chronicles last night which is inspired heavily by the Warzone setting. Its a nice dark movie with a nice sci-fi WW1 feel to the battle scenes. In some parts it hints that older wars wiped out large cities in a apocalyptic scale. Lots of action and great characters. I love Sean Pertwee's Captiol Captain character. It reminds me of his character in Dog Soldiers but far harder. Plenty of terrain and model inspirations for the PA, VSF, WWW2, Warzone and even the 40K player. |

I've got bids in for a copy of warzone at the moment. I've got all the 1st Ed warzone books, and a few of the Mutant Chronicles RPG books too. Certinly a very interesting , vaguely PA, Sci-fi setting (and even more so when you hear about the routes of the ideas for the system...) |

Visually, I enjoyed the movie: great atmosphere, neat tech, etc. Yes, there were lots of things to inspire terrain and vehicles for us. But if it involved actors, writers or a director: it sucked. It was LORD OF THE RINGS done in one movie with science and technology instead of magic. Considering the source material, they could have done so much more, but obviously refused. When it hits K-Mart or a used bin for USD$5.99 I might pick it up to torment my friends or simply show them the box and say in my best Charlton Heston: "Thou shalt not!" After sitting through 3 hours of enduring their eyes bleeding while watching the Pendragon Pictures' production of H.G. WELL'S WAR OF THE WORLDS (2005) despite my warnings, they now tend to listen. And this from the man who likes ZARDOZ(1974) and THE STARLOST(1973 - TV series). YMMV. Edited by RavenFeast, Sep 20 2009, 01:40 AM.

Starcrash - Saw this in the theater back in '79. Other than Caroline Munro in space bikinis, avoid! |
