I have been looking at Warzone. Has anyone here ever played it? Would it be suitable for Post Apoc skirmishes? How flexible and adaptable are the rules? How does it play?

Does anyone have the answers?

Dunno if that is what your talking about first thing google showed :D
That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange æons even death may die

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
Then you don't understand the severity of the situation!

Yup that's the game. I down loaded the V2 rules but I haven't read them yet.

From what I have read the are similar in style to 40K (what ever version) but they are more realistic based and less cinematic. Heroes can die easier than 40k and suchlike. Also there seems to be no alien races. It does have mutants which is useful.

Hi!

Warzone is an excellent game! Both 1st and 2nd edition have a lot going for them! Its a real shame they are now OOP! Some of the miniatures were bit chunky but Kev White sculpted many of their later releases which were fantastic.

It could easily be converted to a post apocalyptic wargame (in fact the first edition supplement of Dark Eden is based on the radioactive waste that is earth) Theres lots of mutant types for villains and the megacorps could make good corporate forces, religious fanatics and evil cyborgs...

Thanks for the info. It seems that anyone who has played WZ rates it highly. As I seem to be doing a trawl of rulesets of late I might give it a whirl in the not too distant future. :D

Just picked this up... I've got all the 1st ed warzone books Danny - if you want to borrow them, give me a shout (From what I hear, the mechanics changed quite a bit in the 2nd ed?)

I am an old 1st edition and some 2nd edition Warzone player. I have 3rd and find it's pretty similar to the mechanics in 1st. The problem with 3rd is it's poorly laid out and the editing is atrocious. There were also some real twists to the army lists that made little or no sense. I LOVE the fluff. It is very interesting! I own pretty much every faction for the game. I like the figs. The Dark Eden stuff does work for Post Apoc since that's the Universe they live in. I'm pretty much sold on Wastelands, Forge of War and combat Zone for my scifi gaming although I could be persuaded to play 1st edition Warzone with a few house rules.

Thanks,

John

Warzone is okay.. I played 1st edition lots and 2nd edition a few times. The emphasis is on squads and it is more of a small unit game as opposed to a skirmish game. It shouldn't be too hard to adapt to PA in that there are SO many troops rated and pointed. As a bonus it has a decent set of vehicle rules.

Mikey what has: Capitol, Imperial, Algeroth, Ilian, Muajiwe, Semai, and Demnogonis armies. :(|party:

P.S. The Necromutants and Centurions (early versions) would make decent proxies for Fallout mutants (although a bit on the short side)..
Fear the future...

I played the actual rules multiple times, but gradually lost interest in them; the CENTURIONS, NECROMUTANTS, some of the DARK LEGIONARYS would all make excellent wastelands mutants or armed/armored radiated ghouls.

until i had to move this last (and sold a bunch of stuff) time i had CAPITAL, ALGEROTH, and bits/pieces of other factions that caught my fancy.

RAZIDES (especially the razides!) and some of the alien DARK FORCES troops would also be very useful for super mutants with shooters because they are basically the size/heft of the old 40K IG OGRYNS.

and speaking of 40K OGRYNS, i plan on using the ones i have had since the 80s as as well armed super-mutants. ditto for the giant NECRO scavvy with the harpoon gun.

I was thinking of getting some GW Ogres for Super Mutant Conversions. The old 40K ones now fetch serious money.
