I'm learning things too... like the fact that it would have been a LOT easier to build the framework FIRST, then cut the walls to fit it! :P

I want to paint it, but I ran out of money quicker than expected this week, and I don't have any paints... I haven't painted minis in more than 20 years, and all the housepaints in the basement are beige LOL. At least I can use it to paint the board sand-colored. ;)

EDIT:

Rooting around in the basement again waiting for laundry to dry, and found an alternative for barrels:

I'm not sure how they'll take paint, though...

Sorry, got caught up with the minis LOL.

I got about as far as I could without going on a shopping trip; I might do that tomorrow. I'd like to start work on the fences ASAP.

Today I bought a couple of brushes and gave the Storage Shed a quick paint-job:

I think I'll give it a second layer. It also needs some "rust and dust" treatment.

I may just hit the hardware store and grab some silver spray-paint. That's really the only way I'll be able to do the interior.

By the way, the wooden base and the door are currently soaking in a mixture of coffee and Barqs root beer LOL. If that doesn't stain it, nothing will! ><

For stain I use a mixture of black ink and isopropyl alcohol... usually one or two drops of ink to a ounce or two of the isopropyl alcohol. For those on the metric system that's one or two drops in a shot glass of isopropyl alcohol.

I let the wood soak in the solution for a couple minutes, some pieces longer than others to keep the weathering variable. The longer soak times, or stronger the ink/alcohol ratio the darker the wood becomes. Different wood densities also will change the staining times. Let the wood dry... or the alcohol to evaporate, and bathe it again it it's not dark enough. This is a fairly quick process.

Experiment.

You can apply this mix directly to wood of a current wood structure too, but if PVA types of glue have been used the bond may falter and release due to the alcohol.

Or you can just go to the DYI store and buy stain markers for furniture touch ups

Or I can just use some of the wood stain my landlord has in the basement LOL.

I finally got my hands on something with which to make chainlink fences: the batteries in my digital camera are dead so I'll have to describe it LOL.

You ever see a big sack of onions? The red plastic mesh bags? If not, picture one of those tiny sacks of garlic you get at the supermarket, but much bigger. With one sack, I should have MORE than enough mesh to make the fence sections I need. I figure I'll make them in four-inch sections, about two inches tall, maybe less. Not sure what I'll use for basing... pennies???

Felixible fences. Nice idea. You could roll it up for storage.

I know the stuff you mean. I have some onions in the kitchen (the un-mutated sort) in that netting. I would go for 2p coins for basing (assuming you are in the UK) the wider base will stop the fence from falling over so much.
