Hi gang!

It's definately been a while since I've lurked in these corners of the internet. I've had a lot of stuff going on in real-life and as my blog cemented, I sorta - well - lost my love for the post apocalypse...

... And once you're done letting it sink in, then you should realize that I'm back, which means that my love for the post apocalypse has returned! :D

The odd thing is that I picked up on gaming 5th ed. Warhammer 40k and had a small epihany; namely that the 40k rules are actually what I'd like in my PA games. It's easy, fast and once you remove the wonky codex race and armylists, then the rules themselves are actually pretty sound. Still, some additions are required - which, incidently is also what I'm working on!

So.. I'm thinking, am I the only one with any love for this here ruleset? And would there be an interest in a supplement to play wasteland games, with the 40k rules? :)

Also - are there anyone else gaming 40k? :)

Hey - welcome back!

I've not played 40k since 3rd ed; but I'd certainly be interested in seeing some sort of supplement. I would imagine it'd be a good way of tempting newbies into the Genre!

Hi there!

You know, I think you;re on to something. If you take a few of the race-specific rules and make them universal and vice versa, you could have a very effective translation into Post Apoc gaming.

An example would be the ramshackle vehicle tests, "oi, don't press dat!" and all those other whacky ork vehicle rules. You have some pretty stock standard humans with the imperial guardsmen, and even some additional psychic powers for mutants...

Hit and Run would be very fitting.

I like this idea, I think you should do a build for 5th Edition.

@Lazy Dragon -

Thanks! It's good to be back, although I've now got a whole load of other stuff I'm working on (40k in itself, for instance). And yeah, I figured that it would be a good selling point for the build; "You know the rules already, you've just got to play with these cool miniatures instead" :)

Incidently, it has changed all that much since 3rd really - except they've just made it a lot more fun this time around than ever.

@Christian

My thoughts as well, which is why this project went underway. However, I've removed all references to the 40k universe, completely and have started to build setting-rules from the ground up. Most, of course, will have been inspired from Codex's and other racial rules. But most importantly, I'm not tying it up to the arcane point system that 40k uses. I devised my own since, well, I'm not out to have my mutie gangs from Neo York fighting against Necrons on some long forgotten planet... ;)

There will be a whole slew of campaign rules, monsters, random stuff and ideas... so, it's just a matter of time really before I'll have a build up and running of this idea. Stay tuned! :D

HAVE not played 40K since edition 3; nearly everything i own for sci-fi has been used with COMBAT ZONE, some of the rules i have seen here, and of course, THWG, beginning with CR/G&G.

i am thoroughly hooked on the THWG engine for the last 7 years, particularly, 5051, ATZ, NUTS!, CR2.0 and the new CR3.0 free versions.

CEREAL KILLERS from THWG is FREE, and does have a useful room/building clearing set of rules in them as i recall.

Well, of course, some alterations have to be made to the bog-standard 5th edition game. But they've gone back to being about having fun rather than be all about the tournament playing of 3rd and 4th edition.

I think that it'll work - especially since the game is a whole lot easier to get in on and I'm really on the look out for easy and fast paced games that do give me a taste of the wasteland. Sort of like MDRG; only with a bit more detail.

Anyway, I'm guessing that I'll have a preliminary edition ready during the weekend :)

I'm interested. Eager to see what you come up with, especially since I'm using 40K miniatures for my PA gaming.

Some chaps I know down in southern Florida have been working on a 40k skirmish based off Mordheim rules are free to download http://www.deathsquadsgame.com/ and there is even based off Necromunda too, but I'll need to look for that URL.
My hands are blistered from trying to get a grip on reality!
