Ideas for the rulebook

It gives you another way to spend strategy points too, by spending a point improving your roll to a 2 you will probably still have missed but you've robbed them of their free reaction which might well be a lifesaver.

Definitely interested in playtesters thanks for the offer, I'll post up a playtest version soon.

I've had a couple of goes of the skeleton rules Tinker and they are quite easy. The mechanics making it a solo affair get you rather involved.

Here are my ideas of a skeleton rule set:

when you build an army you custom make each unit.
it costs 10 resources to buy a person with no aim, 6+ melee and 3 movement. it costs 5 resources to upgrade a stat when you buy them. both aim and melee can't go under 2+ and movement can't go over 12".

Items:
knife - 0" range,+1 to melee stat,cost 1
sword - 0",cost 2
spear - 2",cost 4
lance - 0", -1 melee if charge,cost 4
two handed - 0", -1 melee, slow,cost 4
flint lock pistol - 6", slow,cost 3
musket - 12", slow,cost 5
revolver - 6",cost 5
carbine - 9",cost 10
maxium - 9",fires d4 times,cost 25
shield - -1 to melee rolls against this unit
armor - -1 to aim rolls against this unit
survival gear - +1 to fate table rolls
medpac - if hit roll a d6 on a 5-6 this unit still lives

if a unit rolls a 1 the targeted unit gets a free attack.
if a unit retreats roll on this table:
1= this unit dies and the next unit to roll on the fate table gets a -1
2= this unit is dead
3= lose all gear and get +1 aim and +1 melee
4= lose all gear
5= survive
6= survive and get 10 resources

here is a example army maybe of 100 strong
40 people with 4+ aim, 4+ melee, 4 move, musket, spear each unit costs 29 resources.
20 people with no aim, 3+ melee, 4 move, two handed, spear and costs 38 resources.
20 people with 4+ aim, 4+ melee, 4 move, carbine and cost 30 resources.
10 people with 4+ aim, 4+ melee, 6 move, carbines, swords, survival gear, costs 52.
9 people with 3+ aim, 3+ melee, 4 move, carbines, two handed, lances and costs 48.
1 person with 2+ aim, 2+ melee, 4 move, maxium, lance, two handed and costs 83.
with a total of 3,355
