I REALLY like what I have read and reread of the rules. The Campaign section really adds a lot to the rules! I was toying with with a couple of ideas for our own games. First use an alternating squad/unit activation or use cards. Second, I'd also like to try these rules out for larger games. I think they could likely deal with it if we made critical hits an additional damage roll rather than use the hit chart. This is not a negative commnet on the rules. They absolutely look like what we are looking for. I'd just like to be able to deplo up to 30 figs or so per player. Thanks, John |

Hi John glad you like them! The unit activation idea sounds interesting, I can't see why that wouldn't work - I think Ironblood might have tried that out too. Adding D4 damage for a critical might be an easy way to save rolling on the critical chart if that doesn't fit what you want, though I'd recommend keeping the critical chart for vehicles if you can as it evens the fight out a lot and discourages players using them like tanks rather than hit and run vehicles. I tried it with 20 per side with well matched forces (wasteland warriors vs mutants) and it went for about 45 minutes. Let us know how you get on or better yet post up a batrep, all feedback is really appreciated. |

I used a playing card activation system for a game or two too and it works well. Hey Joe, you want me to adapt my old set for the game and post it up? |

Thanks for your thoughts. I have always liked a playing card sequence where each character, squad or vehicle gets a card. Excellent Commanders can get an extra card. High card gets first activation. Cards aren't assigned. Player uses hand as they desire. Ties are rolled off. I'll post about our game when we run it. I'm currently finishing up some 1/48 scale APC's and tanks to use with my Jungle Troopers. They are actually painted up in a Desert scheme. I have been spreading the word about the rules. I'm an old time Combat Zone/Kill Zone player and am impressed! Thanks. John |

Me too John. The rules run well and are drawing me away from CZ. |

Yeah, Wastelands limiting actions to two and solid vehicle rules are serious advantages over CZ. It may not be as hero focused as CZ but I can live with that. I am also under the impression that it will allow players to put more toys on the table than CZ. I had been looking at the Skank rules too. I rreally like the philosophy behind them. Some of the mechanics are pretty cool. However, I am not sold on the combat mechanics. Thanks, John |

Ah I am a Skank addict. I like the paperless system. Of course that is lost as soon as you want a grow your own legends type campaign system. Admittidly it is basic record keeping but you might as well try some other rules. The mechanics sound a little odd at first but you soon get used to them. Another ruleset I like is Nuclear Ren by Ramshackle. It can be a little fluff heavy at times, but there is a tounge in cheek approach to it, some of which reminds me of the Carry On movies. One word of warning though, although the rules arent sexually explicit you might want to leave out playing with kids under 14. I am trying to decide which to stick with. Wastelands, Nuke Ren or Skank. Check out my card initative rules I posted on here (they are my old ones from the CZ chronicles reworked for wastelands). I also have added some new kit and weapons from my games too. As soon as I am hooked on a ruleset I start knocking out rules of my own!
