Yup, Buffy ripoff. Unashamed, tasteless, and thoroughly cheesy! Still with me? Excellent, I'll talk to myself then.... so it's going to be 25mm GZG street level stuff plus their Hellsbells, some assorted mixed demons (D&D new plastic stuff, GZG, and Eureka) and a shitload of grave stones! I've got a pair of practice Hellsbelles to work on before I get my order in but I've hit my first stumbling block. How shall I base this stuff? I plan for it to play out like a computer game, ie, start in one corner, walk through the map collecting powerups and health while beating up on various escapee's from the local Hellmouth. Finish the map do another until you hit the boss, start all over again. So I plan to make a couple of 1'x1' or even 2'x2' sections of graveyard that can be shuffled and spun for variety, some cave rooms, possibly a temple room or two, hell, I might even get freaky and make some demon dimension rooms! With that in mind, how should I go basing this stuff? |

Hmm... I'd say as small a base as possible, or model the entire nboard in segments, and make the bases on segement sized... that way it'd kinda be like those top down turn based games.... |

Those terrain bit? Naw I'm all good with them, I was after suggestions on the mini's bases. Should I go bare earth, black earth, full grass, stuff like that. |

I find brown earth is best... It looks good on most terrain styles and can suit anything from jungle through urban. |

PVA glue works well with the static grass, tea, and ballast. |

i use a very generic 1. you always want to glue your fine gravel or sand BEFORE priming. THIS IS KEY - it makes sure you undercoat the mini and the base in one go which can be an ass if trying to do separately. 2. paint base with A. a terracotta color OR b. a dark brown OR c. a light brown (depending on the overall feel and darkness your hoping to show) 3. then drybrush with a beige (or white mixed with the original base color) FINITO here are some examples with static grass added ![]() ![]() i use this effect on my terrain also. I use a very simmilar method to Zed, although the levels of brown depict roughly the terrain it's meant to be. Planning on having a big Heresy chappie to be the final challenge? |

Depends on the environment Ross I think some gravelly, brown surface would be generic enough... possibly with some bits of masonry? Is it going to be urban? Also, you should check out the rules for this game called FRAG. It plays really well with lots of players and has you jumping around the board in a Quake-style shoot out with powerups, teleporters, hazards and general havoc. Looking forward to seeing your usual high standard of painting... ... especially on the bewbs!!!!!!!!!!!111

Hmmmm, this FRAG sounds like what I'm after for this, it's not a freebie off the net is it? With the bases, probably not so much urban as graveyards and caves/sewers type of environments. Just an update on how this all stands, I'm broke Nothing unusual there, anyway, TAX has been done and signed off today, the missus' still keen on this idea so it's got the green light and she asks every now and again when I'm putting in an order for it all. But, I'll have to do some juggling as I need to shout the family a trip to the snow (if it's still there) in a months time and to pay for an alcohol fueled weekend away in about two months...... plus she wants a Wii and some DVD players for the bedrooms etc etc etcSo it's going to be a little while before I kick this baby in the proverbial guts as I've got a plethora of stuff to fix up before then. |

How about this guy? Or this one? And for rules why not use Combat Zone - I'm half way through something similar and the APs work really well. Edited by Whiskyrat, Jul 28 2009, 09:26 AM.

CZ is a nice little rules set, and I can heartily recomend it! (Danny seems to have written addons for pretty much everything you could ever want, which is also a bonus )
