Ok, I know its a weird ass period. I made the mistake (?) of buying Chris Peers' "War on the Plains", and I really liked the idea of a bit of a fairer fight between the injuns and settlers. Plus there are some sweet mountain men figures out there, and I would probably have to do some serious converting. Couple that with always wanting a reason to buy CFM's Alamo figures and gazing lovingly at the Conquest Minis 500 nation figures and you get this.... Whether I'll ever find an opponent to play, I don't know - but I'm enjoying the collecting/painting, which I guess is what counts. Forces will be skirmish sized, and although the rules focus on the Plains tribes, I'm more interested in the various settlers, traders explorers and adventurers who started to reach that far....

All mountian men - from Dixon, Foundry & 1st corps

Blackfoot tribesman (foundy) - fair few more of these chaps to come. The musket looks bent in the picture, but it isn't really...

Glad folks like them! As I say, Conquest mini's, Artizan's Alamo stuff, CFM's alamo defendsers (might angle for these for my birthday...) and some conversions should see me well on the way! I'm also going to see about getting some of Malamutes Zorro figures, as they are of the right perioed and would look pretty good:

The beginings of my indians - 2 Dixon generic figures, and 'the little spaniard', a comanche from Conquest miniatures. The conquest stuff is lovely, but not cheap....

Some more settlers/townsfolk - including my first Mexican... Figures from Foundry, Redoubt (great coat, fur hat) & Dixon (red shirt, shotgun)

2 more Mountain Men - L = 1st Corps, R=Foundry

I'd never considered playing the plains wars but I can totally see the appeal. Some cracking miniatures there, I especially like the mounted chap with the revolver.

Thanks for the praise guys :$ Perhaps the genre isn't as oddball as I first thought! I've got another 5 mountain men and a pack mule on my desk atm, then it will be onto a few more generic/comanche indians....
