Wouldn't have got much beer or porn for 80p though! Just had about 5 hours on Fallout3, I keep expecting Mirelurks to appear around every corner I walk round... |

It's great If you're a fan of the post-apoc genre (which you clearly are!) I'd definitely be getting it I'm playing it on PS3 at the moment, but I'd rather have it on XBox - there are a bunch of downloads available for it on there and PC, which aren't coming out for the PS3 for a little while, and only then sporadically. I'm guessing it'll still be a little bit pricey at the moment, but it's well worth it! Sadly I'm playing it on my sister's bf's PS3, and only when they're out of the house, as it's in her bedroom. But I still get a good session on it now and then - I just can't really get the extra content. This is one of my favourite downloadable content packs the studio have done: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Point_Lookout_(add-on) - I've yet to play it yet, but it's already inspiring me to build some swampland terrain

Yeah, they did work well. What did you make the mold from? It's a little confusing, cause it looks like you wrapped the car in alfoil and poured the plaster into the the alfoil. I just think the plaster would push the alfoil out of shape. Add to that, each cast looks unique. I'm confused. Alfoil=the stuff you wrap food in when you chuck it in the oven. Just incase it's called something else in your part of the world. |

I would say a box of sand was used to support the mould. |

Yeah that's (sand) the suggested brace in all the plaster wreck tutorials I've read. |

I actually just used the foil - I hadn't thought of the sand idea. I'd read a plaster wreck tutorial on another forum, but couldn't find the tutorial again, so I was going from memory from about a year and a half ago. I just doubled over the tin (aluminium) foil (folded a sheet in half) and molded it over the car, using the eraser end of a mechanical pencil to make sure the foil went into the details. Once that was done and I was happy with it, I removed it as carefully as possible, to retain the detailing. Worked rather well. The foil seemed rather sturdy, so I poured in the plaster (which as mentioned, was some of the stuff used for filling cracks in walls - the white powder stuff. At least I hope it was plaster, I found a suspect package of it in the garage...). Left it to set for a few hours, removed the foil as carefully as possible. I then made a mix of PVA/black acrylic paint/water which was rather thick, this was then painted over the whole thing - the purpose of this was to seal the plaster so it'll take paint well rather than just absorbing the moisture in the paint. I then used a spray undercoat (black) over this, based them up on some spare plasticard with some sand and gravel around the sides, with some up on the roof too. Paint ![]() Managed to get a good few things undercoated today, pretty much all of the terrain I've built recently, so if I can find some paint I'll be getting some of those painted tomorrow. |
