Mines you say? :)

Posted Image

Took these, some spare wheels from a 1:48 scale Sherman Tank kit - apparently the tank went through several generations, they have various wheel types to represent other variants...

Posted Image

Used a hole punch to make some circles in plasticard to finish them off as mines.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Added liberally to the playground, like the one in Minefield (FO3). Although I reckon most of you guys will know that :)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Added various interesting bits to the bases of the last two caravan/camper vans, plus rocks, sand and kitty litter.

Posted Image

Posted Image

I especially like the dead bodies scattered around :)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Another pic of the other camper van - to show the other dead guy and the dead tree.

Posted Image

Posted Image

I watered down some PVA and used it to seal the plaster on the walls, then left that to dry overnight, before basing them with kitty litter/gravel/sand tonight.

Posted Image

The campsite/trailer park so far.

Everything I've built terrain-wise recently. Really happy with how this lot is turning out! I'm off to another car boot sale in the morning to source some more terrain-building supplies :)

mattblackgod - Cheers :) Looking forward to getting some paint on them!

dicehead - Yeh I see it! Weird. Heh.

Ironblood - Thanks, cheers for the mine related inspiration!

Comments most welcome!

Thanks :) Next thing I want to build is the bomb from the centre of Megaton. I'm running a terrain competition over at the Ammobunker, the theme is "Hallowed Ground", I thought that would be perfect!

Schrodinger's cat - Cheers - get playing!

kfc v lot - Thanks!

Ironblood - Cheers mate :)

Ross - Thanks :)

Went on a supply run to a car boot sale today as planned...

Posted Image

Got this, for free, as my mum had bought something off the stall...

Posted Image

Used a saw and craft knife to get to this stage...

Posted Image

Tail built from plasticard, exhaust-type-thingy piece from a pen, bomb is covered in pieces of paper applied with PVA watered down. They're supposed to be pulling up here and there as the years go by. Mounted on a wooden base and will get rubble (to show where it's dug into the ground slightly when it's landed)/maybes pools of irradiated water.

Also managed to pick up the following for a couple of quid:

Really happy about that last one... I'm going to try and do some rough casts of it, would love to have a load of wrecks of it.

Little update :)

Posted Image

Nice cheap modelling material - it's some kind of wood from a model shop, I think it might be used in building planes and the like (the type that actually fly) - it's 70p for 3ft, I bought 3 x 3ft for building some Necromunda-style vertical terrain. Haven't got around to that yet, but it came in handy for this project.

Posted Image

Auto-body Mesh - £1.49 from a local car repair shop, you can get it in Halfords and the like. Add these two to the thin scraps of MDF and you get...

Posted Image

Chainlink fences :)

Posted Image

To show the height.

Posted Image

Smaller sections, yet to be roughed up.

Posted Image

Posted Image

One way to set them up - I still have another length of the mesh which will be used to make a gated section.

Posted Image

Also tried this out, had seen it done on another forum - thing is, I used a bag of plaster I found in my garage, and I think it may be "off" - it was poured a good while ago (nearly 12 hours) and doesn't yet seem completely set. Just seems a bit odd. I've painted it with a mix of black paint, PVA and water to try and seal it. I also bought some black spray undercoat, which seems to be a bit too glossy for some reason. Damnit, I bought matt paint!!

Comments most welcome :)

Plaster setting times depends upon the water to plaster ratio. I also add a bit of PVA glue to the water to help the setting and binding process. But it looks pretty good so far.

Ah the old "plaster wreck"! That looks seriously wrecked!!

The chain fences look a little high?

Another cheap alternative to the body mesh is a mesh used is sanding plaster (it's a fiber substance with an almost sandpaper like finish) and replacement mesh used for camping BBQ sandwich grilling.

Thanks guys :)

Yeh, the fence does seem rather tall, but I was thinking of the fences they have round military bases or prison fences. I was considering adding looped barbed wire to the top like this (also shows the height I had in mind):

Posted Image

Just based the cars (on plasticard, so they'll sit lower), and based up the rest of the stuff I've built recently :)

Oh the joys of razor wire...

Sert, don't forget to add that cross member on the top of your chain link fencing. A piece of piano wire will look good.

Man, and I thought -I- worked quickly..

You've got a -lot- of excellent stuff here man!
The fences look a bit fiddly, but I'm sure they'll look great with a touch of paint on them.

That's a different story then! In that case, I take it back :)

More on the wrecks, since they seemed rather simple...

Really easy to do and surprisingly durable - I'd just finished painting one of them, which promptly slipped through my fingers and crashed to my wooden floor...and it's fine! Not a scratch! Well, other than the scratches that are supposed to be there :)

Will be taking a bunch more casts of the car later I think (after a session on Fallout3)!

They've come out nice, it keeps the detail well doesn't it? I quite liked it in just black too though, looks like it's been completely roasted.
