EYEBEE, man, yet again i am impressed with the quality of the modeling work, you and others do here! i will have to dig, but i maybe be able to find a way to make that roof removable from ye olde canvas palace . . . until then here is my first TENT, FIELD IMPROVISATION, MARK I thought. first thought i have is make a soft wire armature that is shaped like a pyramid, re enforce joins with green stuff and let harden. then, using pieces cut from 3 x 5 card or similar attach them to this wire armature, with super glue, let bond. then go back and paint this with a watered down PVA, and then carefully place tissue over the wet PVA. let dry. seal. then go back and paint the color of choice for your tent surface. you would have to do this for each tent but if you set out say, 5 tents, and worked assembly line fashion with drying time sped up with a blow drier, the results might surprise you! i make smaller one and two body tents, the inverted V type called "pup tents or shelter halves in the US, by carefully drawing a card board template of same as if would look when it was flat, in scale with my toys. use this to cut out flat pup tents from 3 x 5 cards, carefully fold down along the top, fold down the rear vertical wall, attached to a base, terrain it and then do the paint job with as much detail as i want. i have made simple cloth or leather tents for fantasy and other setting for years this way. alternatively, you could make simple rectangular or square "wall tents" with re-movable conventional shaped roofs from foam core, apply a paper surface to the foam core let dry, mount on a small base and do as much detailing as you want to get decen looking cloth or leather wall tents large enough to hold several human sized infantry types. anyway, i am off to look for that downloadable paper map template i got from some where years ago. i think i have it on memory stick thingies. excellent stuff! once again this piece of terrain took me away from getting some work done. I slapped some textured paint onto the walls and covered it in gray. Made some cinderblocks and stacked them outside of the patchwork wall, started on a roof, and built a basic wooden table. The roof keeps falling off. I think I'm going to super glue some magnets to it and go that rout to keep it in place, yet still be removable for play. Sorry for the dubious quality of the pictures, I'm feeling lazy atm. ![]() ![]() ![]()

The cinder blocks are stupid easy, just a bit fiddley. I drew a bunch of "brick lines" like you would for brick faced building in that insulation foam, then cut the piece in half depth wise. Then cut out the "blocks" as normal. To make them look cinder block-ish, I used a broken tipped x-acto knife blade to score the two squares in the top of each block then kinda like peel/pull/tear the insides out through the square holes on top. The holes only go about half way into the blocks. |

Nice work. The ruins are really coming along. Is the wreck a old pre war wreck or the remains of a PA combat vehicle? Add some bullet holes for that shot up look. |

I'm not entirely sure. jsut off the top of my head: Maybe its previous owner got shot, driving around in a massive engine convertable like a fool. Then the murderer decided the remaining fuel was better served in his little buggy as opposed to the massive fuel guzzling 8 liter v10 engine. who knows haha. I plan on poping the skull off the front and half burying the car to look like wind has blown sand up over it. |

the ruins look good. they blend nicely into the desert. The metal corrugated sheets look coated only. I assume you bring some metal rust/flaking back into them? I would love to see how your salty crust rust technique looks when aplied to these.. plz?

Thanks for the comments guys. It has still got a ways to go. the door is not painted at all neither is the little scrap made wall repair section. I might put some rust on those metal bits once Ive gotten finished with those 40k/at43 massive blue and black pieces in the background for a customer.4x 5 floor buildings ~16" or so and 4x 2 floor buildings ~5 inches high. I have no clue what this guy is planning with them I sent 15 single floor pieces out to him as well lol must have a MASSIVE gaming area or something. |

Good to see these coming along. The building inside the walls will make for a good thing to fight over i think, no matter what rules you use. So is this stuff for your collection? Or is it more commission stuff? |

new wip, the rest of the plasticville hobo jungle smashed together into one building: Trader Jubal's fallout SUPER OUTLET. I'm still searching for a miniature for trader Jubal :c the plan for the front large area is the "shop" area and the smaller area down the stairs is the "living" area. the shop is planned to have a shelf on either side of both doors and possibly lockers or small tables or some such on the ends if there is room. I also plan to stack random barrels containers and crates a round the outside. PICS: front door ![]() shop ![]() shop ![]() living area ![]() someone knocked over the shelf of canned food![]() back door

Thanks, for now they are, I couldn't remember for the life of me what they were called haha. I was looking around for something to use and spotted my OLD pc sitting in a corner and started going through it looking for bits to use. low and behold there was a soundblaster sound card card that was LOADED with them. If anyone has any other ideas on what to use for shelf clutter I'd be glad to hear them. |
