I've just read After London written by Richard Jefferies in 1885, it's the story of England thrown back to the dark ages. Instead of the bleak wasteland we all know and love it is set in a brilliantly described lush wilderness where trees and plants have swallowed up most of the country and where wild animals are abundant. If you fancy a different take on the end of the world and appreciate really top rate descriptive writing then you can't go wrong with this book.

It's available in mobipocket format (PDA or PC) here - After London

Sounds cool. This is the sort of thing you see in the Jon Shannow novels. It is also what you see in the STALKER PC games (although strictly not post apoc, but near apoc. If the zone keeps on growing!).

I haven't played that but I saw the movie and that was great. I'll have to check out Jon Shannow too.

The Jon Shannow novels are pretty good IMO.

The Stalker games are similar to the movie and the guys in it see the zone the same way. However it is horrored up a bit and moved to Cherynobl in the games. I have to admit that I thought the movie was a bit too arty and too long. However I like it as it is quite atmospheric and I can empathise with how the Stalker feels about the zone and the world beyond it.
