Well, she also taught me how to cuss, ruin someone's life, insult someone horribly without a single bad word being said, get out of being arrested, etc.

My Mum has the Official Seal of Amazing.

There is a downside to having a parent whom attempts to be a friend rather than a teacher. Overall it's the relationship which will survive the test of time. It doesn't appear that yours will be one that will fade. Let 'em know you love them, respect what they have taught ya... please above all things do not alienate them from you or your life. That doesn't mean you have to tell them whom you're banging or how often ya barf

What a great Mum, useful tips for life.

Wise words Tinker. Unfortunatley some parents dont always give their children an option but to alienate them. Sad but true.

Lol! I'm sure you'll mamange if you try hard enough tinker! Don't forget all those real bad 'Dad jokes' which you can tell in front of their friends to embaress them... ;)

I get on really well with my folks, although they aren't as 'cool' as Dyma's Mum, neither am I! (Probably a good thing!)

Ha. Dad jokes are the best. My old man has completely failed to alienate me, but he always manages to horribly embarrass all my siblings with little effort :P

It was my ma that got me onto scotch and Guinness :)

Tinker, don't worry: While she is the 'cool' parent, I've never considered her as anything other than my mother. She tried her best, and given how her mum treated her growing, and the fact that I didn't come with instructions, I'd like to think she did a fair job.

While she 'did' teach me destructive things, she also pounded a lot into my head, namely about individuality, self-respect, and general courtesy; something sorely lacking in society these days.

Ah, and the importance of knowledge. That's a biggie.

Sound like you are aware that what has been given to you is a gift and handle it with gratitude. Kudos to you, kudos to your mum too.

Thanks for that Tinker.

(I would add more, but, I'm a bit too tired for anything profound.)

And cleanliness and personal hygiene, they too seem to be a thing of the past!

Moral of the story is, kids today are dirty smelly and rude!

... Is it bad that I'm already yelling at the High-School kids to "Get off my goddamn lawn!" or "Stop throwing sh*t in my yard, you little f*ckers!"..?

... Man, I feel old.

Speaking of movies, though, there's one over at the local Movie Gallery called '20 Years After', or something to that effect... tempted to rent it.
