:coffee: I've been doing alot bit of searching for a Cyberpunk dedicated forum and found a couple that are just dead, or mostly non-existant and have some overbearing GW influence drowning out the bleeding edge minorities. :suicide: This little corner of this Post Apocalyptic site seems to be fairly comfortable though and alot of my cyber stuff will make an easy transition to the PA world, mostly in the vaults. A big thumbs up to the creators and mods of this site. :Arr: So here's a small start, but a start none the less. Here i go. :goggleson: And don't worry, the novelty of the groovy smileys will wear off soon. :slap:

Alot of people say that the Cyberpunk genre doesn't really exist, that in fact it's just sci-fi. Well in this homebrew/battletroops varient i'll try to distill the part of Sci-Fi that is Cyberpunk. So high-tech low-life, and information control. There will be rules for hacking to take control of alarms bringing the difficulty of the encounters down, hacking remote turrets and hacking drones. :robot: With plenty of room for the other punks (players) to shoot up enclave security, zombies, cyber-psychos and the occasional hunter-alien, while protecting the news crew, dilletante rocker or defecting scientist or ceo. :2gun: The players will spend money between encouter sets buying cybernetics, special ammo, weapon modifications, drugs, armour, skill increases and stuff to patch them up. :stretcher:

So to start off the piccies i'll show what i've done for the Punks;

This was my first character, Lazy Susan. Basically the smaller the gun the Punk starts with the more deathware they'll have inside them or more skill to use the pea-shooter. So Lazy Susan will have boosted reflexes and plenty of skill shooting. She's a GzG mini which is perhaps a bit small after i found Reaper:Chronoscope and Copplestone, so she may get sidelined.

Metal Head Mikey is a former Neo-Soviet regular who suffered a battlefield mishap. The doktors gave him a new body, and the army a huge bill for it. He defected to america where he gets his chance to indulge his obsession for american blue jeans and hawian shirts. Big gun, big body, Mikeys' skill is a little lack lustre. The capatilist life style has made him a little lazy, but he makes enough Credits to keep him in kitch fashion. Mikey is a GzG mini, designed on the Appleseed cyborg.

These guys are going to be part of the first encouter sets. From Eureka Miniatures. They're Bush League security for Gen-tech, a bio-technological mega-corp inadvertantly creating zombies. These guys will have some heavy hitting back up, some em-4 minis in NBC suits as well. There are some zombies to paint for these encounters also from Eureka, some zombie troopers from Copplestone, a news crew and a "defecting" scientist.

Schwing stuff man!
I've never really gotten into CyberPunk, but that's most likely due to the fact that I never got exposed to it.
Sounds like you've got some good ideas to work from, and some great mini's to start with. That cyborg dude cracks me up!

I want to get my hands on those Soviet NBC suit troopers, but, alas, the Aussie dollar has climbed once more, and I can't afford it.

Can we get a shot of that GZG girl alongside some of the other figs? She is afterall a girl, she can stand to be smaller than the big boys with guns.

Just as sweet as the first time I saw them CC, never noticed Lazy Susan's eyes were pure dark blue, reminds me of the chromed cyber eyes you'd get in Shadowrun.

Can't remember if I've asked you this previously, have you given Shadowrun a go with this?
Reason I ask is I've been using it for my wasteland games, it handles pretty well, though start of the round initiative takes the longest bit.

Always liked Eureka's minis.

Cyberpunk sounds fun. I wait to see what you do with this.

Some very nice minis there. Lazy Suzan's paint job is great. I think you might not have too much trouble using her with Copplestone.

The NBC troops are great too. I might have to pick up some of those.

Wow - these look really awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing how they all come out :)

I've always liked cyberpunk - at one stage, my Apocalypse was going to be Judge Dredd/Necromunda/Equilibrium style cities surrounded by wastelands... That never really worked out for me in the end, but if you feel you need to justify being on here to yourself, then it might help ;) We don't mind OT in the least tho - just look at all my modern or steamunk bits, or Ross' weird war stuff!

Oh! Never exposed. Gotta love wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk

Check out the movies and anime section. But Shadowrun and Cyberpunk 2020 are RPGs that most gamers seem to get their ideas from.

You know i never considerd using the Shadowrun rules, i don't know why. There was a product called Shadowrun DMZ that used the Battletroops rules, which is why i went with those. But since you mentioned it i've thumbed through my Shadowrun stuff and i'm seriously considering it.

How far do you go with the rules? Any ideas for me? I never considerd using it for a miniatures game, but it has alot of promise.

Shes a little on the small side. The Punks are 30-32mm on the rounded bases, and all the baddies are 28mm with the straight sides. I suppose i'll use her as one of the baddies, gotta have some heavy hitting opposition for the players.

I haven't had any problems with it as of yet. I mainly use the combat system as it's written, movement and range is converted straight to inches which does tend to make for short ranged firefights. Possibly making 2 meters equal and inch may increase the battle field, but then you'll have problems with characters with odd number movement.

It's use of To Hit modifiers for walking running cover etc I think are great by adding that bit more to combat without tying it all up too much.

Would be good to keep the fire fights close. I'd like to saty with 4'x4' or even 3'x3' interior scenery. Last time i did the Shadowrun RPG i used 3rd ed rules with 1st ed damage codes. May go with that. Flicking through the Rigger 2 manual at the moment and weeding out useful rules building security and drones. Will be dropping decking...unless a decking game takes my fancy.

Rigging'd be sweet, plus the option of making all those different drones!

Yeah, it was going to be just some simple 2d6 oppossed rolls till you gave me SR fever. But should help the suspension of disbelief to use some of the juicy rules.

They do work pretty well, especially for small groups or a couple of players on the table vs the DM/GM/StoryTeller.

You've got me curious about your proposed terrain, I have some marvelous visions of what you may possibly be trying to achieve :D What are you planning exactly?

I'll try to put some of it together later this week and flash a few piccies. It's mostly resin and i intend to make some casts of certain parts to make up some other pieces with the same consistant feel.

Aha!
Makes more sense with it in that context. Seen some of the movies/animes mentioned, and quite like the ideas presented within them.. still need to watch the original Ghost in the Shell, and Akira though.

Actually, I'm curious now: Ross, I remember you used Shadowrun 3E (Or was it 2e?) for the later Popon games, so, how's it play out?

This sums it up for the most part:

Though I forgot to mention, as SR has a 10 point wound system, you do have to keep track of damage, so at times this can get confusing.

Ghost in the Shell is my pet favorite. The second one called Innocence was rather good as well. Getting alot of inspiration from the series. You can check out the sencond season here;

Motoko or "The Major" is the female lead character. Maybe Milla could play her if they do a movie. The Tachecomas are funny and Comfy Chair games are releasing some mechanical spiders that look suspicously like them that i may use for drones.

Actually the premise of of Ghost in the Shells' public security cell may work well with this game. Perhaps filled with criminals working off consecutive life sentences ala Dirty Dozen or Cyber City Oedo.
