Here is my latest ruin. It is a cork tile on a foamboard/foamcore base. The fancy brickwork is made from 00 scale self adhesive card paveing stones. The window ledges are matchsticks. As for the colour....it started grey and my good lady complained that all my terrain was grey. A quick look a ruins pics did indeed show some colour. So I asked her what colour she recommended. PINK! was her reply. So I decided it would need a backstory. What buildings would be pink? A gay brothel was the first thing that spung to mind. The ruins of the purple helmet was born! ![]() A full frontal shot! ![]() A close up of the sign. I see the FGM has been here - its her idea for the colour! ![]() Side on - with graffiti. ![]() Backdoor shot. I decided the interior walls would have colour too. ![]() Another view. ![]() A unlucky punter? This is the first in my current terrian project. To follow there are some crumbly ruins and a massive halls of justice ruin - which will also be a raider camp. Edited by mattblackgod, Apr 13 2009, 03:31 PM.

And there is more.... This is a older peice and one of my favorites. Take one fisher price toy garage (or similar). Rip all the crap off it. Add some bits and bobs. Paint with textured paint (in this case watered down PVA and fine sand). Spray it with black, grey and red car primer. Add graffiti and posters! ![]() ![]() The model has lots of space so you can put shanties on it ala Fallout 3. Great for the defend and assault games. ![]() ![]() ![]() The car ramp is a bit steep. Next time I make one or rework this I will add speed bumps to help the minis stand upright with out sliding off! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This was a fun and easy model to make. Beware though these toys are going up in price as "classics". My nephew has a modern one for hotwheels that is TWICE the size of this. Time for me to do some raiding!

And theres more! Ha ha! More old stuff. ![]() A sewer exit made from a scrap of PVC pipe and a CD. This was made as a exit for my ghouls in Babylons Burning. Looks at the bones..... ![]() ![]() Small rubble pile made from cut up erasers (Rubbers for us Brits! ).![]() Visitors to my webpages will have seen this one. Its a ruin made from the old poly trays GW used to supply minis in. ![]() ![]() ![]() Larger rubble plie made from scraps of polystrene. Edited by mattblackgod, Apr 13 2009, 07:25 PM.

Was pure class, until someone blew the place up and they had to move. Hey Dan, what about a 'now open' version since the last one is ruins? |

More ruins....welcome to the Halls of Justice! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I wanted another huge ruin for my table. This one is made from the old GW poly packing trays (why did you stop giving us these GW?). I have been saving them for a while. The air con units are old crow/ainsty resin ones and the air vents are old self adhesive zip tie bases. The signs are all printed on my printer. The inspiration for this one is the Halls of Justice from Mad Max 1.....but looking a lot worse for wear!

Hall must be a sniper and I know what type of justice he deals out!! Nice big structure... a couple more of those and you'll have a proper sized town... but no more ready storage space What are you doing for storage BTW?

Awesome building! Although maybe a few mor details up front? It seems a bit bland at the moment (till you look out back)! I don't seem to remember the Halls of Justice from the original Mad Max. Was that the headquarters of Max and his fellow police dudes? |

Yeah there is only a fleeting shot of it (depending on which of the many cuts/versions you have seen) just before Bubba goes to pick up Johnny the boy. Yeah it could do with some minor details. But I was going for a quick crumbly ruin.

Like ruins? Here are some I made earlier! Yup old ruins from my collection and on the same kind of scale as the last one. Firstly Hotel Paradiso... This is around 4 years old and is made from 25mm thick poly packaging sheet, foamboard/core, plaster, mesh fencing (for rabbits) and assorted junk from my bits box. ![]() ![]() Is there some one lurking in that window? ![]() Side elevation ![]() Rear elevation. Loads of space this hotel. ![]() Plenty of places for snipers or look outs. ![]() Plus plenty of spacious entertainment rooms. Next up is another beast and I wasn't too sure which category to put it in. Ruins or Industrial. Welcome to the Grimwas Factory....a place to beat down your workers and oppress them for less than minimum wage. Now ruins, thankfully. ![]() Made from a couple of packaging blocks this ruin provides plenty of places for snipers and it is my first attempt at vertical terrain. The whole piece is designed to be a game in itself and can keep combatants happy for hours. ![]() Side elevation with the factory sign. The ladder is fencing/mesh for rabbits. ![]() Other side. ![]() And the far end complete with graffiti and posters. ![]() Some of the interior detail. ![]() The walkway is from a Hexagon platformer set. The fan above is a old PC CPU cooling fan. Dont chuck anything away! ![]() More interior detail. The generator is a old transformer from a stereo. ![]() Looking along the factory. The pipes along the floor are 15mm/6mm oil pipe lines from old crow. The funny gubbins in the centre is a axle off a toy truck. The rest is a deep bits box delve. I would get more photos of the other bits but the camera batteries died. |
