So... yes... As people have propably gathered, I'm diving into AC57.

There are pictures of my compled stuff to go up soon, but here are some bits to keep your appetite whetted:
Posted Image
a jeep, a couple of Reno 'gents' & a hunter (expect a few more of these and an expansion into the frozen north with innuits & Mounties)
Posted Image
A Arizona ranger faces off against a radioactive ant... I tried a black wash on the glow in the dark plastic - not entirely sure it works, so I may have to prime 'em and paint them black...

Lol - now you say it... it is a spider isn't it!

Lol (again) - my painting hasn't changed much, if at all. These guys have a few more highlights than some of the gaslight stuff, but no more than any of the moderns (check out the various police figs in the BOC thread - they were painted 3 years ago) I think its merely my figure photography skills (I set up a mini-tripod on my desk this time, and marked out the focal point so that they all got it just right). Natural light also helps!

Looking good. As you game pulp and a bit of WWW2 you have a good starting point for AC57.

Hey I recognise that spider ant mutant thingy! :D

Maybe they are spiders that behave like ants. They have all the charm and deadlyness of the old 8 legs with a ants group/hive mentality. Imagine them swarming towards threats....... :scared:

Ooooh... thanks for the idea Danny! tat sounds like a plan! Done a bit more work on a few more figures, but I've been side tracked into painting camo on african militia (various old soviet & DDR patterns) today. Still, there are some hillbillies in the mix & a couple more military types (Also looking at the Bolt action miniatures US infanry as they look pretty rough, with a few non uniform/issue bits of kit)

For spiders in swarms reference the movie, "Eight Legged Freaks"! BTW there is a species of spiders that mimics ants so as to have a quick lunch without having to pay for it.

In an comic book series that I was creating long ago giant mutated Wasps were introduced to a city. These wasps would attack humans, paralyze them via the stinger. The humans were then sealed in a "cell" with an egg so the Wasp's offspring would have fresh flesh on which to feast.
My hands are blistered from trying to get a grip on reality!

OOooooh I like that wasp idea. There were giant wasps in Fallout tactics too, so I could probbaly merge some of the ideas....

2 Ex-soldier, that I'm going to do in a mix of olive drab & duck hunter style cammo (got some pics of Green Berets in the mid 50's wearing duck hunter... maybe these two managed to 'requisition' some?)

Posted Image
Nearly there...!

These guys are going to be my wasteland's equivalents of the Enclave. Set up by the CIA, these guys are trying to impose President For Life Nixon's rule back over the remenants of America. Almost finished!

Posted Image
More Chinese for the red army...

Posted Image
More 'tans' CIA guys... but needing a lot more work..

Posted Image
A random assortment of Hillbilly cannibals, Townsfolk & wastelanders...

Posted Image
The rest of the military remenants awaiting paint... I'm hoping that my Gamesoc Introductory game will be a big show down between the remenants of the US army (& a few USMC Grunts thrown in for good measure) holding a position against masses of PLA chinese (and any russians I can get hold of)

The tan guy are mainly BTD with a couple of artizan and battle honours chaps thrown in. The Regualr army chaps are mainly BAM, with some odds and sods of BTD figures (the standing radio operators, one guy with M1 carbine & the 2 figs I am doing in cammo)

I really like the BAM figures... but on the other hand, I really like all of Paul Hick's sculpts!

They are looking good so far. I have a fondness for those Chinese figures. I have been wanting to do a faction with a Chinese feel to it for a while.

I hope you get a good batrep from that game.

For good 'oriental' types - keep your eyes open for cheap Vietcong. Certainly all the figures in the picture were supposed to be VC...

As for the bat-rep - I'm hoping to. It may be difficult with it being the 1st G-Soc session... but I'll do my best! I may also have to take in some of my own scenery for it (I'ma lso tempted to have it as the USA attacking entrench PLA, just to reinforce that the chinese have been there for a while!)

Gah!
How the bloody hell do you paint so fast?
(I mean that in the best way possible, of course.)

More Chinese updates - these guys are rather slow burners...

Dyma - I don't worry about doing too much in the way of shadows/highlights. Most surfaces are either 1 shade or have only light highlight/lowlight (baring the flesh). I work on the fact that people will be looking at a figure's pose/features rather than the bulk of the uniform. I also tend to crack on and get a couple of figures finished before gearing down to do others, but painting bits and bobs of other bits as I have a colour out (and I've got LOTS on the go at once - see the vague shapes in the background of most of the WiPs). E.g. Whn I do flesh, I always do a minimum of about 8 figures at once so I can carry on with the others in spare moments.

Also - when I'm at home I'm in the middle of the countryside, with no freinds around; and I'm not a mjor TV watcher. So I can sit and paint uninterupted for ages.
