GW has some really good fluff and various gaming ideas, Necromunda is one of them. The issue with Necromunda in my area is trying to get up a game. There was a short campaign being played out at my local Game shop by three players. I wasn't one of them due to my working 11-12 hours a day. Now, there is no campaign, and I'm out of work... go figure

Hey Tinker - Orks was my force back in the day when imagination was allowed in 40K and no one had ever yelled Waaaaarrrggghhh! (the vision blurs and my sight dims. I remember a time of great chaos...ahem!). I never parted with my old warband. They get regular outings as a type of bioweapon/gelf/mutant.

Necromunda is another game getting thin on the ground. Shame really - but the gang system works well for Post Apoc games - ask Ross!

But Orks are good. There's no shame in Orks. And what says post apocalyptic insanity better than the deffkopta?

Two Deffkoptas strapped together, with extra wide low profile runners, furry dice and a killa sound system? :D

Brothers, thanks for the support. Orks are usable in multiple ways in gaming, I've even seen 'em recently painted with flesh tone skin coloring making for a good humanoid mutant types... I like 'em because what's better on a Saturday Night than drinking and fighting? Drinking and fighting on a Friday night.... Waaaagh

I must admit to preferring to paint them in browns or flesh tones these days. I have a pile of unpainted ones for just that (yikes - yet another mutant race for my world!). Also give the Fifth Element a watch (looks around carefully trying not to spark off John or Ross!). There are alien mercenaries that look and act a bit like Orks - but they are in kinda flesh tones (more sandy brown).

Then there is this I found on TMP - this is the basis of using my Orks in my world although it will need tweaking.

O.R.C.S. (Organic, Reproducing Combat System)

The end result of a biological warfare experiment that went bad – very, very, VERY bad! O.R.C.S. are now a scourge on the galaxy, having multiplied exponentially since the escape of the original subjects from the biological warfare facility on Deneb IV.

Resourceful, dangerously intelligent survivors, O.R.C.S. are also highly aggressive, xenophobic, and possessed of a reckless courage only a weapons lab could produce by deliberately minimizing the survival instinct of the individual while intensifying the drive to see the group survive and triumph over adversaries.

Inveterate tinkerers, O.R.C.S. can improvise weapons and equipment of every sort short of a starship (they simply steal these), and often of heavier calibers and throw weight than a human without powered armour can hope to match.

As they are asexual, and produce two litters of "pups" annually that reach physical maturity within three years, and are physically autonomous within two weeks of birth, O.R.C.S. are a dreadful menace should they infest a planetary surface.

So there you have it. Have fun, and watch out for sudden spikes in reports of stolen ground cars, break-ins at pet supply stores, and family pet disappearances

The "5th Element" similarity to Orks is how I always saw 'em. But I have always thought of Orcs as being a little lacking in the intelligence department. The Wasteland in my PA world these creatures are know as Kro Warriors running with bands of Torg scavengers. These aliens wound up in the PA world after their ship crashed because their Captain couldn't avoid hitting the planet (booze was a major influence).

Okay I stole some fluff from Gorkamorka...

hehehe... i LOVE Orks. one of the few things i still actually like about 40k :P . i just love their mentality and simplicity. i wish i was an ork, honestly. would be awesome i say. and now with these thoughts of non-green orks, i may have to repaint those orks i have sitting in simple green...

and for some reason i find myself drawn to WHFB recently... i dont know why...

I'm still a big fan of Necromunda, though the last campaign I was the underdog for ages, when I had an awesome win (killed ought right a good number of the enemy and TOOA a big swag of others) we stopped the game.... :(
