Looks good to me! But you asked for criticisms so I'll give you what I got (they're only minor so don't stress.)..... Make sure you get full coverage with your paints, I see a bit of cadbury purple between the corrugations in the first shot (where wall meets roof). The flat chrome triangle plates don't sit right to me for some reason, but I think that's just personal taste. Lastly, the dry straw grass looks fantastic! Personally I'd like to see the ratio of green static grass and the dry brown static grass reversed, but I'm used to a dry wasteland so green's foreign to me ![]() Still as a whole, it looks the part and I'm more than keen to see lots more! |

yes i did notice the purple in the pics. i considerd shrinking the pics to make it less visible as it is not in real life. still as for the spikes. agreed they are odd. but the concept started out as a 40k orc hut, still spikes = blood. so i was pretty happy with them, and the grass, i love it also but it was an old brush. im not sur ei have any more. i was making the most before i threw it out. i also have some darker green static grass for my next builing. part of the pipeline as for the minis. they're both from the "soft plastic" (though i would argue they are not) star wars minis range. i personally think they make great near future pulpy miniatures. Nice work. Same C&C as Ross. I do tend to go for a green/yellow or brown static grasses. If you mix them you get a nice sickly green that reminds me of grass in toxic/rad hotspots. Still it could be be bright green as the locals "water" it! Dont forget that in your wasteland everything will be reused for something. Faeces (poo!) will be used as fertiliser in some places (there are still some parts of the third world that use human faeces to help fertilse feilds). Urine can be used in vehicle radiators instead of wasteing water (some German troops on the Russian front claimed that pissing on your boots kept them supple and waterproof - the downside is the eye watering aroma of course!). |

first shanty![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i wanted to focus on levels on this shanty. there fore there is 4. (including the step inside the building) ![]() and one for luck ![]() i also thought i would post part 1 on how to make my PA fences i have been working on. so here goes. first of all, what you will need (from around the house/ workbench) ![]() - PVA - SUPER glue - scissors - pencil - steel rule (or any, but i chose steel rule) - paint brush (reasonably large) - basing matieral (not pictured) - paints you will need to buy ![]() - 1.5 mm thick plasticard (less warpage, more sturdy) £2.00 - thin wire mesh £1.00 - 3.5mm thick balsa 75p (comes in obscenely long sticks, cut to size as later in tutorial) step one: you need to create some templates, trust me its worth it. it saves bags of time. the templates are as folows BASE TEMPLATE: 33mm wide 3 inches long FENCE TEMPLATE: 37mm high APPROX 70mm long (the wire stretches and needs cutting to fit later on) POSTS: cut to 40mm tall. step two: measure and cut out base / posts / wire ![]() ![]() ![]() step three: score thin slots into the posts using the back of a sharp knife ![]() step four: rip holes into fence and add other details with knife ans scissors. (measure after this step as the wire tends to bend about during the cutting) step five: bevel/ smooth off the corners of the base ![]() here we have all the pieces so far. (no rip in this fence yet) ![]() now. step six: 1. glue the fence into the slots in the wooden posts with super glue. (hold until the super glue grabs hold) 2. glue the posts onto the base with super glue (if it doesn't hold try using some putty) 3. base with preferred basing material (i use fine ballast from woodland scenics) step seven ![]() OH NO you will have to wait for another update for step seven...... hope this helps those budding fence makers. Nice work. The hut looks really ramshackle. Do you find any problems putting minis inside with the roof as it is? Or is the roof removable? Those fences look good too. |

ditto that question... I like the use of card and cardboard for the reason illustrated by the last set of pictures... ramshackle appearance. Looks good. |
