Another thread on here someone mentioned maps. It got me thinking - as I have a map for my wastelands too. Helps keep things organised when you have a whole world to create. So who has a map and who doesnt? If you have one how did you create yours? There are several ways to create you maps. The first is grab a bit of paper and a pencil - quick and easy. Plus you make it up as you go along! For the more technical minded it could be done on a PC. I have used both of these. (Mattblackworld is currently on its fourth map). Secondly you grab an old map. A road map should do it - or a old OS map if you are rich. Then you modifiy it and add the bits you want. I did this when I ran a PA campagin set in my home town. Its far easier to play with some else's work. If you are out and about dont forget tourist guides as a potential scource for cheap maps. Third - Got a PC? Go online and look up maps of your favorite computer games or even fantasy background. The maps from Fallout 1-3 and STALKER are availble online. Just change the names of the places to suit. If you want to annoy a LOR fanboy - copy the middle earth map and PA it! Discworld and Conan of Chimmera are both good maps for butchering. Dont forget Ramshackle has a map for Nuke Ren online too. Negromundiaheim site used to have a map - sadly the site is gone and I lost the maps in a recent PC crash! Fouth - like the one above but you download real maps. Then butcher it with paint/paintshop pro. Add stuff - change coast lines. Remove seas - what ever rocks your boat. Any other ideas? |

I keep meaning to get a road map or 2 and give them some alteration (especially good for those '5 years later' games as it gives it that 'authentic' feel if you've got an OS/road atlas with bits scrawled in, rivers re-directed, etc. Charity shops are great places to pick these sorts of things up!) |
