To complement the Fallout miniatures thread and the Fallout terrain thread, I will post pictures of vehicles for my Fallout project in this topic.

Actually, I´ve only yet done a single vehicle, specifically a Verti-Bird tiltrotor aircraft for my Enclave troops.

Built from a balsa wood core covered in plasticard and various bits and bobs, it took me an evening to build and two more to paint.

The figure on the base above is a 28mm "Gentleman Scavenger" originally from the Grenadier Future Warriors line, now available from EM-4 and Mirliton.

Posted Image

The side view above shows the original chin gun design, since replaced by the tri-barrel in the other pics.

Posted Image

The landing gear is removable. The bird is more of an interpretation rather than a faithful replica, but does the job well, methinks.

This is the model in primed state:

For more models, I eventually plan to do a "Transport Vertibird", but before that, I want to do a master model for an atomic car, which can also be used as a terrain piece (and will probably get moulded and cast), and of course Liberty Prime, the lovable nuke-lobbing vanquisher of communism. And maybe a tank to use as a scenario objective in a "Raid on XY Base" game, but I still have to decide on which design to use (possibly a discussion thread to be opened on its own).

More pictures as I do models, maybe next week.

"INITIATING DIRECTIVE #7395a: DESTROY ALL COMMUNISTS AND BE FRICKIN´ AWESOME!!!"

As promised last night (alright, very early this morning, but don´t hold me to it!), here are the pics of my Liberty Prime model.

A WIP shot of the subassemblies of the model prior to priming.

I´m struggling what rules to create for using him, though. Probably one attack per turn (either lobbing a nuke, shooting deathrays from its eyes or stomping on the enemy), always moving at a steady speed. Additionally, I´ll have to build a mushroom cloud marker just for the heck of it and maybe succumb to that mad plan of recreating the Jefferson Memorial in tabletop scale... :'(

That my friend...is totally frickin' awesome......laser beams on maneating sharks awesome. :jaw:

Liberty Prime doesn't seem to be that popular amongst gamers (of the Fallout 3 game), but kinda liked the big guy.

The whole "Embrace Freedom you communist scum" while tossing a nuke at some poor unfortunate Enclave guy cracked me up in game.

Rules wise: LP was pretty much unstoppable in the game so I'd have no idea of what to do with him on a tabletop

Fantastic work - as I recall it moves slower than the ground troops. In Fallout3 it pretty indestructable - so you might have problems finding an opponent who wants to take it on. Maybe an evacuation game - escape before it fries you kind of scenario would work.

Glad you like it! I agree though, that LP is quite the can of whupass. As said, I´m thinking of something like "you can delay him, but you cannot stop him". Maybe only use him in a scenario where the Enclave is run by an umpire, or the Enclave player must evacuate their hideout.

For the lasers, I thought about "Human being is KILLED AUTOMATICALLY IF HIT". Period. And the nukes, well, those don´t really take much consideration, one big boom per turn, followed by placing a crater model plus some deteriorating radiation.

What could be interesting would be to have him act semi-randomly, IE only attack enemy models, but roll randomly what type of attack LP initiates. So if you get too close to the enemy and the bot selects a nuke, tough luck.

In game, he's not fully operational......the Brotherhood were still working out the bugs in his programming and he went out without being fully tested so the random attacks would work, add in a chance of LP just lecturing the enclave on the benefits of democracy and I think you've got a workable system. :(|:D:

Although I hate to say it, but the random rolls for attack for the Warhammer Fantasy game might be worth a glance for inspiration?

You mean those for giants? I remember those fondly from the foggy aeons of my misspenth youth... :P

Something like that. I´m currently thinking of drafting a table which correlates attack modes and situations and gives them varying probabilities.

By the way, don´t chastise yourself for relating to vintage GW rules. Anything before ca. 2002, when that horrid tournament crowd took over, is fair game in my book.

Giant rules were pretty "good" from what I remember.

I  Liberty prime!

"OBSTRUCTION DETECTED. COMPOSITION: TITANIUM ALLOY SUPPLEMENTED BY PHOTONIC RESONANCE BARRIER. PROBABILITY OF MISSION HINDRANCE... ZERO PERCENT!!"

Also... I think there are some Fallout miniatures rules..somewhere! If you want a reference.

Yeah, the Fallout Warfare ones. Already got those and they are pretty nice. However, I´m unsure if I should instead use Legends of the Old West, since these would be easier to get into (been playing them since early ´05, and the others either know them or are acquainted with GW-Style rules). I´d struggle at how to get proper stats for LP for FO-W. As I said, undecided.

Its interesting idea to use Old Westr rules but, what with vechickles rules.
Are you familiar with Ramschackle Games Nuclear Reneissance? I believe this rules are pretty flexible - ist very easy to have consistent rules for almost ANY kind of vechickle (wheeled, walking I think also flying one). They are also very Fallout like.

Well, since the Vertibird and Libby will be pretty much the only vehicles around (although I´m thinking of doing some wrecks as terrain pieces), I think I´ll contend myself with simple, special rules for either one. I´ve already written rules for motorcycles (horses), quads (mules) and jeeps for a previous LOTOW adaptation to Cyberpunk gaming, and I´ll incorporate those. It´s pretty much down to weapon and figure stats, and I´ve done those already. I´ll upload the ruleset as a PDF once I finish the first draft.

Yeah, I had seen those. I do like the models, but am not actually inclined in getting any, so the rules will have to wait, too. I´m not too keen on having to learn yet another set of rules at my age... ;) :D

The rules are available in a free PDF you know. :D I quite like them but they can be a pain to go customising characters. Good fun and worth a try. I did fall out with them with working shifts and being tired most of the time. The maths calcs for stats became a headache. But when I have some kip they make sense again. :D I thinks thats just me....
