Some unfinished terrain

Some terrain I put together for "modified" Necromunda gaming. I've learned a bit since I made this, like using texture paint to give things a nice corroded look and the importance of making things more ramshackle. One day I might make better versions and pass this off to my nephew.

Let me point out first, the paint jobs on this stuff are not finished, though I'm not likely to alter the builds at this point. I got them to a point I could use them and moved on to vehicles, because we needed those. More detailed painting will be done when we have all the gaming basics covered.

Second, I only paint to a table top standard. Little or no shading/highlighting and if I ever finish something, I might put on a wash or "dip" it. I just have no interest in painting "amazing looking" minis. I just want them to look nice when I play with them.

With all my excuses out of the way, here they are.

These are pretty good. The red overspray works well on industrial terrain. I am also a big fan of textured paint. All they need is some warning signs IMO. Print them off and glue them on!

Sadly, no. Right now, I'm trying to get some vehicles in playable condition. Plus I'm constantly getting side tracked tinkering with mobs of mutants, Orks, and space gobbos.

I have made one additional piece since these were done. Sort of a base for my gang. It's a bit nicer, with texture, bullet holes, and generally a more "beat up" look. I haven't been able to take any pics of it because someone dropped our digi cam and broke it.

I hope that someone got a slap around the melon for that...

No, had to let it slide. I'm rather fond of certain parts of that persons anatomy and would very much like to continue seeing them.

These look -really- good, man!
A patch of rust here and there wouldn't be amiss, but aside from that, I'd say they're more than good enough for tabletop.

I'd like to see your gang's base once.. err.. you get your camera repaired/replaced.

Sorry to indulge in thread necromancy, but how do you create railing, ladders and small pipes like that (especially for the 15mm scale I use)?

for 15mm ladders/railing you could try getting some larger granny grating (with bigger holes) and cut out strips to use as ladders, railing would probally be best made with wire/paperclips and the like.

You could also try stuff from 1/100 (which is closest to 15mm) 1/144 or HO/OO modelling lines.

All my stuff is 28mm & I use 1/2" wire fence from someplace like Lowe's or Home Depot. A roll cost me about $6.00 a few years ago & I still have half of it. I just clip off strips one row wide for ladders and 2 rows wide for railings. I leave a few pieces sticking out here and there which I bend over and push through holes I've made in the structure. Then I bend over the part inside the structure and they'll never come loose. Just be sure to file the clipped points off or you'll eventually get a nasty scratch and bloody terrain.

For 15mm, they have a smaller size, maybe 1/4"? I'm not sure of the size. You might take a mini and compare it to see if you think it would work. If it's the right size, it's a fairly cheap and very durable solution.

Granny Grating/cross stitch mesh would probably work well for ladders, but metal might be better for railings.

Some of my stuff has ladders made from cheap toy train tracks. Probably about HO (just a guess). I know there are smaller scales, but as to which scale would make good 15mm ladders, you'll probably have to go to a train shop and do some comparing.
