Thanks, yep it'll be while until I can put all of the necessary junk together through......I'm still searching for all my old 28mm stuff having totally switched to 15mm.

The Robots are all Mechwarrior construction mechs, another cheap deal since they were very unpopular at the time as Mechs.....I made a few modifications to use them as Labour Robots, also useful as 15mm Power lifters.

Very cool John, I echo Dan's comment about rivets.

What about some stuff leaning against the walls like planks, bits of tin etc? It provides horizontal cover to fighters in a ground vs ground conflict at the base of the walls.

Very nice stuff from both - the Huntsmen look great, and will inspire me to get my JK hero finished! The settlement looks set to be a great piece when its done!

Hmmm.....any suggestions on how to produce the rivets? it's not something I've ever done before....

I'll add some assorted junk round the walls as I can locate it. I've redesigned it a little as I'm working on it, i'll post some more pics tomorrow, I should have finished the walls and the internal building by then (at least to a basic level).......it's my first attempt at building anything like this. :twitch:

John

PS I'll even start my own topic, rather than keeping hi-jacking Phoenikuz's. :D

Hell....its a trading post, if I can't get it right i'll pile a lot of trade goods up against the walls......it might allow raiders a route over the walls, but that's the price of commerce in the wastelands. :(|:D:

This is going to be the only really fortified building in the settlement, the rest are going to be more scattered around the trading post, I figure it would also act as a haven for the settlement in case of attack.

PS I've still got a unused GW Fortress (the most recent) I picked during my GW days, anybody have any ideas to Post Apoc' it up :D .......I thought it could originally been a theme park attraction that my Brotherhood type faction found and converted into a base. :)

I like the theme park idea! Add some graffiti to the walls, and if there's any way to do it, add some cracking to the stone work.

Depend on whereyouhad visions of your game beingset... if you were ineurope, you could use it 'as is'! The theme park idea is also an awesome one, and would let you use some other GW scenery bits to support the look (plus there are all the reference photos from the abandoned fair-ground rides at Chernobyl to act as insperation)

Oooh, now you've got me working VLD; I'm thinking carrusels, swings, merry-go-rounds, broken down ice cream vans, popcorn houses, all sorts of theme stuff.

You know, that would actually be quite a stunning terrain piece all in itself; a post-apocalyptic themepark... (tinker tinker tinker)

I'm thinking UK/Europe for my games location, simply because i'm a brit. :)

Hmmm......I could have a post apoc' cult centered around an attraction..... :D

For post apoc the castle - watch Doomsday. The castle in that although being used by non-technology nuts still has the National Trust signs. Put a plate on the wall by the gate with the castle name and trust logo on it. Inside dont forget old faded exit signs and the gift shop sign. There may be suits of armour, swords, old black powered cannons and muskets that may be made servicable too.

Another great film to watch of PA castles is Regin of Fire (the kids story time is of my favorite scenes!). The old walls are further fortified by bits of scrap metal and corrigated iron. It may be a good way to expand the fort to a larger size by adding these sections to the walls.

Dont forget other modern stuff that finds its way into castles. Things like viewing telescopes on the walls. If the fort was an active military base (great Enclave fodder) you will have some things like regimental banners - not to mention a 4 ton truck, land rovers, feild guns and a decent armoury. Some might even have an old lighttank (Scorpion/Scimitar) or even a APC.

Hmm haven't seen Reign of Fire for a while, i'll have to chase up a copy and watch it again.

I thought of a theme park since being GW I don't think it looks like a 'real' castle, I don't have a keep for it for one thing......although I could have a central ruined keep (I'd just need some ruins) re-built a little by the inhabitants and try to ruin the walls a bit, then rebuild them with metal and wood bits.

I suppose some rich guy could have been building his very own castle, when the nukes hit......

I was always toying with doing a Jungle theme park ("Jungle Lands") to use some of the jungle terrain I keep intending to make; also thought that some Jamaican Yardies could have taken it over, and gone for lots of voodooish trappings there by letting me use some Darkest africa bits & field my modern african Militia as a faction in the Wastelands (Maybe trying to keep an ethinically pure group... but of negroes rather than the usual Aryans?)

That reminds me of the Sons of Samedi from Saints Row 2.....Voodoo, drugs and automatic weaponry.

I'd mix in a few other races, as long as they're equipped/dressed in a similar fashion. If a faction started out as a gang pre-nuke and is predominantly descended from that gang, once ethic group might be more common than any others.

Interesting idea Xander.....I may have to borrow that for those Thugz figures I have. Mix in some Yardies and Pulp Voodoo type characters and you are set.

I may have to watch Predator 2 again - loads of Yardies in that.
