Pictures from the battle yesterday - more will arrive later in the week, but these will keep you going 'til then I guess! For those that aren't aware, the game was set about the british escorting a postman carrying important documents from British to confederate territory, whilst the Germans & a mad scientist attempted to intervene ![]() Starting set up. Confederates are by the monitor, with the British at the opposite end by the train. The Scientists are in the ruins, with the Prussians on the plain opposite. The people are Lachlan setting up his scientists, whilst Dave is on the phone ![]() The British lines - they are rather lacking in steamtech, only havingt he battle walker & a man with an Anti-Contraption rifle. Thus they have ~70 figures, whilst everyone wlse has ~40. The brits also have a gatling & a mountain gun. ![]() Different view - showing some of the confederate & german forces. Forces: Confederates 3x infantry squads with rifles 1x steam assault gun (4" naval gun... Missed a lot) 1x Field gun and crew (Medium gun) 1x Monitor (2x large cannons) 1x unit of indian scouts with rifles 2x Texas rangers (characters) British 3x Regular infantry squads W/ rifles 2x Askari squads w/ Rifles 1x Armoured Naval Assault squad w/ Pistols, cutlasses & satchel charges 1x Aeronef (unarmed) 1X Gatling team 1x Askari Mountain Gun team 1x Officer (Character) 1X Anti-Contraption Rifleman 1X battle walker (Repeating cannon & Hammer) Germans 3x Infantry squads w/ rifles 1x Assault infantry squad w/ Rifles & 1 LMG 1x Maxim team 1x Steam tank w/ 2x Pom=poms, 1x twin linkled light cannon & 1x Heavy machine gun 1x Kan w/ Battle claw & grenade launcher 2X steam chickens w/ beaks & combat shotguns 1X officer (character) SCIENCE! 1X Doom trooper squad w/grenade launcher, flamer & rifles 1x Sanwar squad with Blunderbusses 1x Sand worm 1x Spider bot w/ machinegun & claws 4x engineers w/ pistols (there to fix steamtech primarily) 4x Man of War suits with Halbers & shotguns 2x Robot servents 1x cannon bot (large Zap gun & melee weapon) 1x Mad scientist - Van der Graff, w/ disintergrator ray ![]() Blurry pic of navy assault troops ![]() Blurry pic of Sanwar Edited by v_lazy_dragon, Jan 18 2009, 10:14 AM.

Holy crap!! Give Lachlan red hair and you've got a pic of me at age 18 Seriously!! That and I don't have an English accent ![]() That looks mad man, you've got me salivating for more! I had the same sort of image in mind for a group in my WWWII as the Naval Assault group. What models are the Sanwar? There's not GZG are they? |

The Naval boys & the Sanwar are both from Ironclad miniatures. John (the owner) has some really nice stuff there, with plans for more - including Sanwar jezzails & artillery crew.... |

'Fraid not old sport - I'm not going to have time to get one written up. Generally speaking, the brits were hammered, with the other forces taking minor losses. (~10-20 men to the brits 20-30). The game ran out of time, and the postman was last seen next to the steam tank as it exploeded (Yes- I deus Ex Machina'ed him to move first so that he'd be there). His body & the documents were never found. |

There are another 18 pics uploading as I type... GASLIGHT is a nice light system, with very few rules to relate to people (which helps for clubs gain, etc). I then somewhat intimidate people by giving them a closely packed cheat sheet - and the npoint out that it contains all of the rules for play. Its also useful that the force sheet has a weapons list & the vehicle damage & morale failure chart already on it. |

Its also useful having a 'Mass battle' game (the game from yesterday is what GASLIGHT is designed for, Battles by GASLIGHT can cater for 700+ fgures if the players all know the rules so I've been told), the RPG version (Adventures & expeditions) and the Table-top RPG/general B movie addon (To Be continued by GASLIGHT; which has rules for super heros, magic, shoving tables, femme fatales, swooning neices, etc) all of which bolt on/snap off with great ease. I often stat up a character in A&E, using some bits from TBCbG before using them in GASLIGHT, switiching for some of the battle rules in really busy/big games |

![]() ![]() The Sand worm attacks the CSA gun crew and kills a gunner. The crew retaliate by killing it with an artillery ramrod. Thinking that was a bit of a feeble aim for such a big critter, I let it live. Although the 2 SCs killed most of the unit, the Askari used their machetes the disable one by prying its legs off, and to explode the other by over charging the engine whilst exploding the magazine ![]() The Aeronef soars above the british line, whilst the postman continues along the road ![]() The back of the Prussian steam tank & assault infantry. ![]() My Confederates - with naval assault gun, infantry & indian scouts ![]() Man o War fighting the british infantry ![]() ![]() The 'Nef attempts to drop the assault team on the steam tank ![]() The doom troopers close on the postman ![]() The nef succeeds in dropping the Naval troops onto the tank ![]() ![]() The left flank of the germans, where it met my lines ![]() The Naval boys ![]() The armies of the Kaiser & the remains of the naval troops slugging it out with germans after planting bombs on the tank ![]() Middle of the british lines, and the railway station the forces disembarked at ![]() The Nef swinging around after its successful drop off pass Edited by v_lazy_dragon, Jan 19 2009, 12:06 AM.

I agree with Ravenfeast, brilliant and inspirational! I haven't been able to shake images of VSF from my mind after seeing this stuff (and the plotting of what could/can be, sourcing bits and pieces etc.). Is GASLIGHT free or must be purchased? |

Over the wire is sort of still around...ish. Warrior miniatures (http://www.warrioronline.demon.co.uk/OTWGames/otwindex.htm) still sell it (& I therefore asume still make it, as OTW games disappeared a fair while ago). I've no idea if they have a US stockist through... |
