Ok, so its a cowboy. Its one of that new breed of westerns which are pretty far removed from John Wayne, so bear with me (not that there is anything wrong with the Duke... he's just not really PA material) 3:10 is a slightly epic story about a injured, ex-Union army Rancher called Ben Evans & the notorious outlaw Ben Wade. Suffice to say that following a hold up of a stage carrying $1K+ (armoured up, loaded with pinkertons & with a gatlingon the back!) Wade gets caught, and then the rancher and the restof the posse have to take wade to the nearest railroad station to put him on the 3:10 train to Yuma prison, whilst Wade's ruthless gang trys to stop them. Lots of the elements would transfer well to a PA setting - especially a dusty, Fallout type setting (either of a low-mid techbase or just scale the heaters up). especially thestage coach scene & some of the gun fights. I highly recommend it, and once I get enough old west figures together I'll be running something similar at my gaming club! Edited by v_lazy_dragon, Jan 5 2009, 04:01 PM.

I saw "3:10 to Yuma" recently myself. The Armored Stagecoach was an unexpected pleasure to me and I enjoyed it very much. Critical point, why don't these cowpokes skin some of the horses? They never seem to be shot from under anyone, I figure they must be bullet proof. The fellow in the role Charlie Prince had a part in one of the Punisher movies. He had all his piercings removed with a pair of pliars... ouch!! |

It'd be worse if he'd had a Prince Albert.... I've been meaning to watch the movie (3.10 to Yuma) but never got around to it, I think I'll give it a watch now. |

I gave this a watch the other day, quite a good flick really. Not to the quality of the older Western's, but it had a style of it's own. I see what you mean about the story ideas for a PA crossover Dan, it'd work quite well. |

I forget that actor's name (Charlie) but he's great, he was a regular cast member on "Six Feet Under," and he played Angel in the second X-Men flick, and he was also a minor character in "18 days of Night" I think it's called, a vampire movie based on a graphic novel. Seems like he chooses very interesting projects. I'm a big fan of modern westerns. If you liked this movie, you should check out the HBO series "Deadwood." It's the most brutal fucking television show ever made. People are constantly getting shot, stabbed, throat-slit or whacked with tomahawks. Ian McShane (he was the old guy in Death Race, and the stepdad in Hot Rod) plays the evil saloon owner who runs the town of Deadwood, and he's just awesome. Everything's wood and lanterns and gold and whiskey, it's a lot like Redding in Fallout only way more hardcore. They get the fucking plague! LOL. |
