Well, some may be aware of my WWWII stuff (check the DFGI's AAR for a taste), others, this will all be knew to you. I've decided as there's an increasing amout of interest and chatter about Weird World War 2 I'd throw some pics and log a bit of what I'm doing. It's another of those 'side' projects, so some weeks it'll be filled to the bring, other weeks it'll lay dormant. OK, so far I've amassed a smallish collection of pieces to game with, among these are the almost released Dog Faced G.I.'s from Eureka miniatures. Now I was lucky enough to have gotten some duplicates of these models so I came up with an idea based on the name of the sergeant. The sergeant's name is Steel, steel by name, steel by nature: ![]() ![]() ![]() Now there's 3 Sergeant Steel variations, two in helmets with very similar faces/looks, and there was that one that I'd done up as a sort of Collosus character. I've also got a 'flesh' version all painted up (but the gun had snapped and won't stay glued for long.). I haven't decided if he's Sergeant Steel with dormant metal skin powered, Steel's brother who happened to cop a dose of Ally science, or just some random soldier who's a mutant/altered human etc. Also throwing around names for him (some obviously taken from existing comics, but that can't be helped): Sergeant STEEL Steel Blue Steel Tin Man Iron Hide Thoughts? |

Looks good so far. He is a real metal head! Ahem - I got a black sabbath song going around my head now.... "Iron Man?". Or as a salute to a certain 80's metal band with Iron in the title "Eddie". Other names are Ferrious or Ferric. Sgt I.Ron? Or Sgt Metal? |

How about something more coloquial -> 'Metal' Mike Rosby or somesuch? Or maybe Cpt Iron (Cpt Ironside? Cpt Ironhide?) Where abouts on the eureka website are these Ross? Or haven't they been officially released yet? |

Well, Metal Head was another name I'd thought of last night, but I'd already posted and was heading off to bed. An Aussie on the WargammerAU site suggested Steel Shaft, or Iron Rod ![]() I really like 'Metal' Mike Rosby, it has such "mateship knickname" to it! I'll ponder it for a bit, but I think I've found a winner. The DFGI's should be released ths month some time IIRC, are you planning on grabbing some? They are really cheap and wicked little sculpts too! |

Mmmm hmmm, I've been trying to justify those new Beowulf models myself, just so much character they can almost be 'hero' models each and every one! Let me present to you guys Fleur "The Blur" Henderson: ![]() ![]() The photo is crap (I'm going to have to check my camera and see if the settings have been altered), but it does give you guys an idea..... plus it hides my mistakes ![]() She's powered like the Flash, but not as quick/powerful. Still, she ought to be fun on the battlefield..... "she can move how far!?!?!?" |

Thanks guys, I think the darker skin tones suit the yellow quite well. For some reason the model reminds me of Carol Denvers. Dan I used too, I'm finding it hard to keep motivated each night lately. |

Nice one Ross! You could always use Beowulf as a ghostly king arthur for a British WWW2 faction (the old 'sleeping under the far off hills until Englands hour of need' line) or possibly as some ancient German Warlord the Nazis have summond through time for his ability to control the dead/franks/salami. I tend to churn out ~5 'gaming quality' figures with only limited ammounts of shading a day whilst at home, and then not paint anything whilst at uni... |

Actually, my new years resolution is to not buy a single model for the whole year and to paint what I've got. I keep looking at new and tasty stuff and have to tell myself "next year man, next year!"

But, Ross, what if the companies who manufacture those minis go out of business? Clearly with the economy how it is some will, you have to buy them before that happens! |

If the bitsare still available! HLBS is stopping their 28mm lines at the begining of March, andthere seems to be some debate as to whetherthere will be enough of the bits left to pick up at the closing sale - so I decided I'd better get them whilst i still could

I was wondering if I could get some input on which pose works better:![]() ![]() The model will become a Grifter like hero (from Image comics IIRC). |

I quite like the bottom pictures - it gives it a really heroic 'running forward blasting away' type feel. A bit like this guy:![]() BTW - Ross, have you seen this site? http://www.greyfalcon.us/Weapons.htm |

Thanks Xander, I think that'll be the pose I go with, it'll make him look a little like a bezerker, added with his red cloth mask and perhaps long coat (still not decided on the long coat yet), he should look like quite the Grifter knockoff. I hadn't seen that site, I'll give it a decent look after I've posted this and watched the movie Taken. I finished a new hero, I'm not sure which side if the battle she'll be on (I'll be grateful for any thoughts on which side she should fight for), not sure that I've picked the right colour for her psychic flames either, but I do like the 'dot transition' that I stole from a mate on an Aussie sites Anima Tactics model (though his shits all over mine) ![]() ![]() Any thoughts on the name will be appreciated too: Baal Fire Star Fire Hell Fire Soul Fire Oh yeah, production is because.... I started holidays today..... yippeeeee!! EDIT: Oooops, forgot this guy: ![]() Just the repainted DV-8E Axis battle bot all coloured in and ready for action! Edited by Ross, Jan 17 2009, 11:52 AM.

The main base of the weird weapons iste (www.greyfalcon.us) has some good weird war conspiracy bits on ti as well, although there are a few rants as well. The girl and the bot both look good! As for names for the chick - how about 'ghost fire', 'Amathyst Flame' or even something like 'Jane Torch'. As for sides... I don't know - if the catsuit was all black, I'd say Germans, but as is - I'd almost be tempted to make her neutral or even have split personalities (although I guess a vertical split, with opposite colour outfits & flames would have worked better for that) |

For the Girl.... -> Nazi brainwashing makes her think they are the only ones who appreciate her skills? The bot is ace! What do you use to base larger models? |
