Life in Doom Valley Pt4 All in a days raiding. Ever wondered what Raiders get up to when they are not out Raiding? Despite all the fun they seem to have (if you have a penchant for mindless violence, getting drunk, stoned and raping stuff) there is a more business side to the more successful raider gangs. Many of the Blacks N Whites had been out scouting the valley. They reported to Fong that there was some settlements in the valley. The most successful seemed to be a place called Raven City. The gang there had just raided a warehouse and seemed quite wealthy as a result. Fong decided to take the Settlement as it offered more resources that this old apartment block. Besides by knocking out the biggest town they could secure the Valley and put Fong one step closer to being the Valley Warlord! He ordered the B&Ws to arm up and move out. Ravens had 80 Resource points and 3 Exp points to spend from part one. They replaced their lost guys for 62 points. The Ravenwing got the Marksman skill. With the remaining points the clan bought a brat Shaky – with a pistol and knife he leaves one resource point. Ravens All raven stats are survivors except for Ravenwing. Ravenwing – Chieftain. Combat Shotgun, knife, goggles pts= 56 Jess Oneeye – Combat Shotgun, knife pts= 26 JK – Assault Rifle, knife pts= 36 Katie – Combat Shotgun, knife, pistol, gasmask pts= 54 JG – SMG, Hammer, leather jacket (prim armour) pts= 36 Crow – Pistol, Brolly (club), gasmask, frag gren (1) pts= 52 Toerag – Slingshot (D3 damage), Knife pts= 18 Dunette – Crossbow, knife, pts= 19 Shaky – Pistol, knife pts=17 Total = 314 The Blacks N Whites. All B&W stats are warrior stats except for Fong their leader and Screamer. Fong – Chieftain. Combat Shotgun, pistol, knife, leather jacket pts= 69 Screamer –Brave. Combat Shotgun, knife, leather jacket pts=48 Greg – Pistols (2), knife pts= 28 Acid Rayne – Combat Shotgun, knife pts= 28 Badland Sam – Pistol, knife pts= 22 Ron Dumpster – Assault Rifle, Sword pts= 37 Don Dumpster – LMG, Sword, pts = 42 Die Anna – Pistol, knife pts = 22 Total = 296 Now they say a picture is worth a thousand words. As I picked up the wrong batteries for my camera and I have proved that I am a total dullard this is going to be an exercise in our visual imagination. Come on, you know you need the practise! Shame really as the table looked ace. And for those that say it didnt happen - did! In the centre there are a few small shacks around a well. On the Eastern side there is a long barricade made from scraps of metal (Anisty Flameblade). The south side has a tyre barricade (Ainsty Tyrewall). To the North the compound is secured by an old wall and oil drum barricade. The Western side utilises rubble piles as barricades. All round Raven Cities barricades is old ruins and twisted dead trees. The town’s folk aren’t too dumb as they have left a decent amount of killing ground around the barricades littered with junk to slow attackers. The Ravens have sentries posted. Ravenwing is chilling outside his hut, having a smoke. Meanwhile JG is at the well instructing Shaky in the fine arts of combat. The B&Ws move in from the south and deploy in the ruins there. The Raiders rush forwards, the Raven’s sentry bullets miss the raiders. Don sets up his LMG and fires on the barricades hitting JK who is on sentry duty. Despite the tyre wall JK drops to the ground dead. It didn’t take long for the blood to be spilt. The Ravens all rush to the Southern barricades keeping both sides covered in case of some manoeuvre by the raiders. The Raiders spilt into two forces. One group charges right keep the barricades busy whilst Don keeps LMG fire on the wall. The other group rushes right dodging through the rubble piles to limit the defenders LOS. JG reaches the wall only to be hit by a LMG bullet wounding him. Ron shoots at Ravenwing wounding him despite the cover offered by the wall. Much gun fire pours from the defenders but sadly they keep missing their targets. Acid Rayne makes the barricades only to step into Ravenwings line of fire. His shotgun booms wounding her. Shaky takes his first shot at Greg, wounding him. Die Anna is running across the killing ground drawing fire from the defenders. Her pistol pops and JG takes a wound falling to the ground. Moving along the wall Die shoots Jess, killing her. Die is living up to her name. Acid screams in fury and fires back at Ravenwing, the shot wounds him. Yet our mighty leader is still standing. The battle intensifies and Shaky fires another shot at Greg hitting him again. Greg grunts in pain. He is going to kill that little runt! The right group of raiders reach the barricades. Crow steps forwards and lobs a grenade into their midst. The explosion seriously wound Fong and kills Screamer. Badland Sam is bringing up the rear of the group and levels his pistol at Crow blowing his brains out. Back at the tyre wall Ravenwing blasts Acid killing her. Is this battle turning in the favour of the Ravens? Maybe. Ron’s LMG rattles and bullets rip through Ravenwing killing him. Dunette fires her crossbow at Greg and gets a critical hit on him, killing him. Badland Sam and Fong climb across the rubble into the compound. Ron moves up to the tyre wall to support his comrades inside. Ron spots Toe Rag firing his slingshot at Badland Sam wounding him. Ron fires a single shot from the LMG wounding the little Toe Rag. Badland takes aim and finishes Ron’s work blowing Toe’s brains out. Shaky blasts Die wounding her. Screaming in fury Die returns the favour wounding Shaky. Katey reaches the action late and spots Ron. A quick shotgun blast and the raider dies. Can Katey reach the LMG and turn the tide of Raiders? As her hopes rise so does Fong’s shotgun. A single blast kills Katey. Don’t hesitate in combat kids! Outnumbered two to one, out classed and out gunned Shaky and Dunette decide to flee the battle. Maybe they can make it to Doom Central? Sadly something nasty in the wastelands killed Shaky and Dunette bumped into that band of slavers. Neither is seen in the wastes again. Another Faction down. The B&W’s gained 7 XP and now have a nice new resource earner. But with three dead it was a high price. Thoughts: The rules need a cost for grenades. I should have promoted the Ravens to Scavengers in the stats as settlers/suriviors are pretty useless. That said Shaky did well, shame he is lost to the wastes as he had a promising career ahead him. So what next? Will the Grots move on the Disposed? Will the Disposed launch a terror attack on Doom Central? Wait and see. |
