My proposal: In 1933, Adolf Hitler, leader of the NSDAP or Nazi Party, became Chancellor and President of Germany, taking the title Fuhrer. Over then next twelve years, he pursued a series of policies that are now seen as horrendous, barbaric, and unforgivable, including the slaughter of over 11 million people, including 6 million Jews, in what has since become known as the Holocaust. His reign ended only with his suicide following his defeat in the Second World War by the allied forces of the Soviet Union, United Kingdom, and United States of America. Now, the era of Nazi Germany and the atrocities committed are regarded as an unpleasant patch in history, and the vast majority of citizens of the world hope that such events are never repeated. I propose that, had the people of Germany not elected the Nazi Party to government, then the rising tide of fascism, especially in Europe, would never have been halted, and other concepts that we now regard as essentially wrong such as antisemitism would never have received the criticism that they did. Furthermore, modern politicians would have no motivation to avoid immoral policies similar to those of Hitler, as we would never have experienced the atrocities such paths lead to. Therefore, although it was a terrible evil and cannot be condoned, the rise and fall of the Nazi movement was necessary for the development of global society. Discuss

What I find Odd Is if The Germans had of won, we would all think Hitler is a hero. The reasson for this is because we would grow up thinking that. The world would be completly different if he had not of died. When Germany invaded the Netherlands my friends grandfather was locked in a small chicken coop for months, he was fed dry bread twice a day and water. |
