Hello, and welcome to Terrian Village's Pokemon Contest Hall! If you are new to Pokemon Contests, or are an aspiring Coordinator, this is a location where you can come to achieve ribbons for your Pokemon by winning Contests. All the necessary location you need regarding this place is given below. (Credit for the original model for this information goes to AABM.) Contest Hall Layout The entrance to the Contest Hall leads into a large reception area, and from here you can go to any area of the Contest Hall. The places you can go are as follows: ~Registration Counter: This is actually inside the reception area, and is where Coordinators will go to register for Contests. As this is Terrian Village's Contest Hall, the contests that are held here are Tough contests for the Normal, Bronze, Silver, and Gold ranks. (The Grand Festival is held elsewhere.) It's also where you can obtain a Seal Case for applying Ball Capsules to your Pokemon for participating in a contest. (Ball Capsules aren't mandatory, but are recommended.) ~Nursery: Off to the left side, there is a small nursery for the contestants. It's used just in case a Pokemon is significantly harmed, or a Coordinator may accidentally get hit, during a Contest. As such, this room is here prepared for that possibility. ~Bakery: The right half of the Contest Hall contains a rather large bakery, used for the preparation of both PokeBlocks and Poffins. All the necessary materials used to make PokeBlocks and Poffins will be here, including Berry blenders, mixing bowls, and berries. (The first time you visit here, you will be given a small Food Case to carry any PokeBlocks or Poffins in. You can carry a maximum of 15 apiece of PokeBlocks and Poffins in the case.) Feeding your Pokemon isn't mandatory, but recommended. **A note regarding PokeBlocks and Poffins: Although they appear to be very similar they're quite different. PokeBlocks are easier to make as it uses a machine to make the blocks, and thus does not require as much finesse. When a PokeBlock is eaten, only the Pokemon it's fed to will partake of it. Poffins are harder to make, since it will involve rigorous stirring of the dough to grind up the berries (and since it's easy to spill, you'll also be given an apron when making these). In addition, when a Pokemon eats a Poffin, that Pokemon will become happier, and it will have a greater effect, as the Poffin is shared between the Pokemon and the Coordinator when eaten. Regardless of what they eat, the Pokemon will have a noticeable difference (up to the RP mod) about it after it has eaten. ~Coordinator's Rooms: Also off to the left side, closer to the stage, are places where Coordinators can prepare themselves for upcoming Contests. They're separated into male and female halves, and they are where Coordinators will change into fancier attire for the Contests. (The first time you visit here, you'll be given a set of clothes, depending on what kind of image you are trying to project onto the audience - make sure to tell them what you want.) It serves basically as a waiting area, and is connected directly to the stage. ~Stage and Arena: Yes, this is the main attraction, and where the actual Contests take place. All eyes will be on you and your Pokemon, so stay focused and get over your stage fright! It's go time! Contest Rules and Guidelines As with anything else, there are guidelines to go by. However, since these are Pokemon Contests we are talking about, the guidelines are slightly different: ~Whenever a Contest actually takes place, it will take place in a completely separate thread to the one that the Coordinator is currently in. Additionally, for the duration of the contest, that thread will be stickied. It will be un-stickied when the contest is over. ~During a Contest, everything that will happen both to you and the contestants around you is up to your topic mod - in short, you will be at his/her mercy. Make sure to perform well; good RPing will always help. There are exactly 16 contestants in all, be they real people or NPCs. ~There are a total of three parts to the Contest: Appeal, Battle, and Final Battle. ~In the Appeal round, you try to show off your Pokemon's best moves. You are allowed to perform exactly 5 attacks, no more and no less. As you do so, though, keep in mind what you're trying to do - make your Pokemon match the Contest theme as closely as possible. This may involve using slightly different moves, performing them in a different manner than normal, and/or chaining two moves together to create an overall impression. Keep in mind that you only get 5 attacks, and the way that they'll be received (i.e. how good the judges find them) is up to your topic mod. ~In the Battle round, the four Coordinator teams that performed the best in the Appeal round move on. Those four teams will square off against each other, and the rules of the battle are to the topic mod's choosing. However, it is recommended that the battle format be either a single or a double battle. You have 5 minutes of RP time (how many battle rounds that equates to is up to your topic mod, but it must be a minimum of 5) to try to do the exact same thing you did in the Appeal round, except now you have to perform against a moving target, who is trying to do the exact same to you. ~Contest Battles will function like this: Pokemon don't have HP, per se, however they will instead have a "Contest Gauge". The Contest Gauge will start at 50% (capping at 100% high and 0% low), and go up or down based on your performance, like so: +5% if you performed an attack of the contest type successfully +5% more if it was super-effective against your target (e.g. Ice Beam against a Pidgeot) +5% more if your topic mod thinks your move did exceptionally well +10% for each time you perform 2 or more super-effective or graceful attacks in a row +5% if you managed to dodge an attack in a graceful manner (Similarly, any of the above can turn into losing a bit of your Contest Gauge if that happens to you instead.) -10% if your opponent turns your attack against you somehow -30% if you yourself (the Coordinator) end up getting hit by an opponent's attack somehow If your gauge ends up dropping to 0%, you will automatically be forced out of the Contest (as a loss), and you and your Pokemon will be taken to the nursery. If your gauge ends up going to 90% or higher, though, you and your Pokemon will be much more resistant to attack, and your Pokemon's condition will improve significantly. ~In the Final Battle round, the two winners of the first Battle round will then be pitted against each other, and perform another Contest battle. It will, for the most part, be performed exactly like the first one, although the topic mod may choose to add other factor(s) to it. (The topic mod can choose to also have some restrictions to the first Battle round as well if s/he wishes.) ~The winner of that Pokemon Contest will receive a Ribbon for the Contest s/he participated in. The Ribbon is for the Coordinator, not necessarily the Pokemon. If a Coordinator has earned all 4 Ribbons of a certain category, s/he will receive a Contest Pass. A Contest Pass will also be stamped with the category(ies) that its owner has earned all 4 Ribbons of a Category in. A stamp on the Contest Pass also gives eligiblity for the Coordinator to participate in a Grand Festival for that category (however, the Grand Festival is held elsewhere). That covers the basic rules and guidelines for participating in a Pokemon Contest. Best of luck to you! |
